Santiago is pulling ahead

Partly because of new construction, well balanced designs, proper city planning and natural beauty, it looks like Santiago is pulling ahead in my opinion. Have a look at the following thread: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...652341&page=21 for the latest pics of the Santiago skyline.

this thread is about the best south american skyline .. not designs, city planning .. and if the thread were about that .. i don't think santiago would be the best.. its in the top 3 in S.America.

Still voting Santiago

I didn't know that skylines had nothing to do with design... or city planning for that matter (third world mentality anyone?). These are simply the reasons why I believe Santiago is pulling ahead. Sorry to break it to you but Buenos Aires, as beautiful as it may be, is not moving fast enough.

And for a taste of the smaller buildings, and skyline, in between the larger buildings, see below. Understand how balanced design and (city) planning can contribute to a skyline, rather than simply say, 'I like this skyline.' Wouldn't that be a useless thread, where anyone can chime in with their opinion without having a single reason? We'd all sound like a bunch of four year olds...

the skyline is best described as the overall or partial view of a city's tall buildings and structures .. the design doesn't matter.. here..
look men.. if you like santiago ,, ok. if you are voting for santiago .. it's ok.. really.. but do not say santiago is the best .. santiago its a nice city with nice buildings .. but they are small than the buildings of another cities in S.A
..

check this out..

i dont see the ''best skyline''.. i see a tall tower and a lot of small buildings arround there.. i don't even see a cluster of buildings..

..

Buenos aires..

CHECK THIS OUT.....

this is the skyline of catalinas and madero ..

Wow, you are such a kid. Let them vote for the city they want to.
_______

And it doesn't matter anyways, you know why? Because for us, Santiago always will be a great city, with great designs and medium-rise building. B.Aires has a lot of high-rise buildings, but none of those with a little piece of the greatest designs of Santiago.

You guys must to wait Santiago 2013. You're gonna see a lot of tall buildings and projects, so over the city you had.

And yes, Im so pissed off.

Buenos Aires Va a ser la Nueva San Pablo

Los edificios de Santiago se ven muy lindos pero Buenos aires tiene mas cantidad de rascacielos. Ya se esta pareciendo a San Pablo.

blah blah blah, Santiago is still the nicest

I think it is best to let the buildings and conglomeration thereof speak for themselves. Just to note, that one tower in Santiago is considerably taller than in the others depicted in the pictures, including Buenos Aires. Put it anywhere in the Buenos Aires skyline and it will stand above the others. To be honest, other than Sao Paulo, there is no other S.A. city where you can say that it really has a skyline. The buildings in Catalina Madero really aren't that tall, and what's worse, they don't come together nicely (Except for one or two angles where there is cohesion). Basically, there is no class to the S.A. skylines, except for Santiago. Furthermore, at least Santiago has an excuse with the severe earthquakes and all. Any construction must be considerably more robust and therefore costly. The fact that Santiago is getting bigger than Buenos Aires is a downright shame.

All I am saying is that, Santiago has by far, the nicest collection of buildings. That is my definition of a skyline, not one that some fool pulled out of the dictionary. How unoriginal... like your 'skyline'

The thing I like most about some SA skylines is that they are so beautifully perched/nestled in mountainous areas!
