Colombia also presents many cities of this type like Medellin, Bogota, etc.
But Chile only offers Santiago, a very young city (the nice and modern area).
I seems no to have the conditions to be in the 3rd plce.
Chile have at least 8 main cities with vey good architecture, from south to north;

1) Punta Arenas
2) Puerto Montt
3) Valdivia
4) Concepción
5) Santiago
6) Gran Valparaiso (Viña-Valparaiso)
7) La Serena
8) Iquique

Santiago was founded in 1540 or 1541 one of those two, Santiago is young compared to European cities, when it comes to south american cities, i don't think is very young...i'm not disagreeing with your on your choice, i disagree with your facts.

Caracas, the city of eternal spring.

Hello everyone, I did not take these pictures, I just collected them from different sites. I thought that people needed more pictures to decide. I live in NYC, and have visit most of the cities in SA, NA and Europe. I think BA and Rio are the most beautiful cities in the south, but I can say that all cities has their special charm, in different ways, and Caracas is definitely one of the most beautiful and has one of the most sparkling skyline in america. Enjoy

Si!!!!

But Puerto Madero is not only one neighbourhood, is THE neigbourhood of Buenos Aires in terms of skyline, recent construction and contemporary design.
The difference between Puerto Madero and the main skyline districts of other capital cities in South America, is that Puerto Madero´s towers are residential while in othr cities are corporative/financial buildings with some smaller residential around, like San Isidro in Lima, Las Condes in Santiago, Centro in Bogota, Berrini in Sao Paulo, Parque Central in Caracas, etc, etc.
The financial neighbourhood of Buenos Aires is then Catalinas right? in the other side of Puerto Madero. Besides the Microcentre.

i like the general look and feel of the caracas pictures best. i've never been there, but among the cities listed, i think it has the best general skyline. when it comes to general street views, buenos aires is best in this respect, followed closely by santiago. but if we're talking about skylines, caracas is #1 for me. too bad this is only for capital cities, because several brazilian cities deserve to be in the running if we were TRULY talking about the best south american skyline. as it is, this thread should be renamed "best south american CAPITAL skyline"

my skyline vote:

1. caracas (good cluster of buildings)
2. bogota (again, descent building cluster)
3. santiago (generally short but attractive buildings, but it's developing a nice cluster of buildings)
4. fair winds (getting some taller buildings, but too spread out, i like "clusters")
5. (insert other capital name here, except brasilia--not much of a "skyline".)
