In the cosmopolitan era of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) a Muslim missionary named Hazrath Saeed Bin Abi Waqqas (Ral), who is the intimate Friend and one among ten of most Elite Companion of Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), who came to China for Da’wah by the order of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and said to be an uncle of the prophet Muhammad, came to southern China and given that Guangzhou was where Islam was introduced to China in the 7th Century. He was on his first Muslim mission to China in the 630s. He converted many Chinese to Islam and according to old manuscripts 1206, he built this mosque in Guangzhou as their house of worship. His tomb in the northern part of the city has been a place of pilgrimage for visiting Muslims, but the mosque is his best-known memorial.
The first mosque in China, it originally stood on the banks of the river and for 1,300 years provided a beacon for merchant ships from Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and Europe. Following progressive land reclamations, it is now almost downtown and surrounded by modern skyscrapers, yet it manages to retain an old-world dignity and an atmosphere of peaceful devotion.
Huaisheng Mosque embraces a unique ingenious architectural setting by successfully integrating Islamic architectural renderings with elements of the T’ang architectural style, producing an aura of Islamic-Chinese symmetrical architectural charm, free from ornamentation and idolatry.

The mosque gave birth to a new chapter in the field of architecture in one of China’s most illustrious periods of history where efficient administrative system developed, printing appeared for the first time, custom and philosophy became even more sophisticated and creative arts flourished, producing a highly cosmopolitan empire.

The Huaisheng Mosque (Memorial of the Holy Prophet) or the Guangta Mosque (Lighthouse Mosque), is thought to be the earliest surviving mosque in China (over 1,300 years old) and one of the oldest mosques in China has the earliest freestanding minaret in the country. It was named in memory of prophet Muhammad. Its calling tower is 36 feet tall with a pointed tip. The building used to serve as a beacon for boats, which is how it got its alternative name. It has many other variant names like Great Mosque of Canton, Guangta Si Mosque, Hwai Sun Su Mosque, Huai-Sheng Mosque, Ying Tong Mosque, Huai-Shang Mosque, Huaisheng Si Guang and Huai-Shang Si Mosque.

It is located at No. 56, Guangta Road (Light Pagoda Road), Huai Sun Su Street or Guangta Lu, 3 blocks southwest of the Gongyuanqian metro station which runs eastwards off Renmin Zhonglu in the middle of Guangzhou city. The city of Guangzhou having four mosques named Huaisheng Mosque, Haopan Mosque, Dongying Mosque and Abu Waqqas mosque. It is one of the four most well-known mosques in China, the other three being Yangzhou Crane Mosque, Quanzhou Kylin Mosque and Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque. Thus it is an excellent place to visit if you want to learn about Islamic culture in China.

Built in 627 in the 7th century, it has the style of Hui culture. Even though the old manuscripts from 1206 claim that the mosque was built by Abi Waqqas, it is more certain that a mosque was first built here during the Tang Dynasty, or in the early years of the Song Dynasty. The mosque was entirely rebuilt in 1350 during the Yuan dynasty (1279-1368) under the rule of Zhizheng (1341-1368), and rebuilt again in 1695 under Emperor Kangzi of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) on the same original site, after being destroyed in a fire. The Huaisheng Light Tower, the mosque's unique namesake minaret, was built at an earlier period. Like its contemporaries at Quanzhou, Hangzhou and Yangzhou, the Great Mosque of Guangzhou is notable for its integration of the local Han building tradition with imported Arab styles.
Huaisheng Mosque which is located on Guangta Road today, still plays a very important role in Muslim life in Guanzhou, welcoming Muslims from all over the world, including many of the businessmen who attend the Chinese Export Commodities Fair (Canton Fair), to worship.

The construction of the mosque in Minsk (Belarus). It will be exact copy of the old mosque, which was destroyed in 1962.

The Serb militia blew up the Ferhadija Mosque on the night of 6-7 May, 1993. May 6 is the date of the Serbian Othodox holiday of Đurđevdan (Saint George’s day). The minaret survived the first explosion, but was then razed to the ground.

Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Protestant are all Christians. Just like all Sunni and Shi'a are Muslims.

So the majority is Christian.

Tartars in Lithuania live for more than 600 years.
There are around 3000-4000 Tatars in Lithuania, mostly Lipka Tatars from Crimea.
History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Lithuania
Currently there are 4 mosques in Lithuania.
Unfortunately some old mosques like in Vilnius, Biržai, Panevėžys, Trakai and other places were destroyed by soviet commie authorities.

Kaunas mosque, currently the only stone mosque in Lithuania.

Nemėžis mosque in Vilnius district. The town itself was established by Tatars in the 15th century, and today is situated right on the administrative border with Vilnius city. The town is mostly inhabited by Tatars or descendants of them.

More about history, culture and nowadays of Nemėžis Tatars look here:

I will show only part of the text, what is about the mosque.

Keturiasdešimt Totorių village in Vilnius district. The name of the village means "Fourty Tatars".

Raižiai village in Alytus district.

There are plans to build a new mosque in Vilnius. Hope they will use the old project of the stone mosque, that was prepared just before the First World War and because of this, was not made reality...
Also there are plans by Klaipėda city Tatars to build a mosque in port city of Lithuania. There are around 1000 Muslims in Klaipėda, mostly Kazan Tatars.
