I love these projects. How exciting. I would love to see more residential highrise buildings.

![]() Russian ships docked there and stored their products in the warehouses at Russia Wharf (vice versa too, american products bound for russia were stored there also), hence the name.

From what I understand, the depth from the surface to the underground highway in some sections is too shallow for trees. There are some, but for the most part, it's pretty open. |

![]() You mean Winthrop Square? That is proposed and you will hear more in 2009 when the parking garage at the tower's site shuts down.

Oh ok hopefully it gets permission. Do you think Boston will ever bridge the gap between downtown crossing skyline and the john hancock, prudential etc or will they always remain 2 separate clusters?

I doubt it at least for the near future. City hall and all those annoying neighborhood orgs are so damn conservative when it comes to preservation. Our city has got to embrace more bold and futuristic projects. I am sick of boxy Prudentials.

IMO, I think that you are slowly starting to see that gap fill in a little.
-thanks to burislav for this pic.To the right of the Hancock, the red crane is The Clarendon, at about 330'. To the right, over the highway will be The Columbus Center, at 400'. Then going up in the background all on the right side of JHT will be the W Hotel, about 310', the Residences at Kensington, about 300', then possibly 29 Kingston, 325'. Then you'll just be able to see SST over One Financial, as well as Russia Wharf just to the left, at 345'. On the left side of JHT will be One Franklin at 495', then 45 Province, the yellow crane, at 325'. Density!! I love it! |
