Do you mind resizing pictures like that? Almost nobody operates a 3200 pixel wide screen.

Great roads!
How many km of motorways/expressways are in Oman?
In 2005 they had 550 km. Today is the same?

The Oman expressway network will grow considerably in the coming years. The government has contracted several projects to construct the Batinah Expressway along the northern coast of Oman. It will run from Muscat to the border of the UAE. The length is circa 250 kilometers of new expressway. The first circa 50 kilometers out of Muscat is already in operation.

The construction is fairly easy because the coastal plain is wide and terrain is fairly flat. It will likely run somewhat inland, avoiding the coastal urbanization and agricultural areas.

It will replace Highway 1, which is a dual carriageway with no grade-separation.

There is a long bridge planned to the island of Masirah. The bridge would be 15 to 25 kilometers long, depending on the exact location.

I guess the wadi washed away the missing section of road.

When it rains it can get quite bad.

Why is that bridge planned curvy (and thus longer)? To follow the most shallow possible water (requiring shorter pillars)?

great pics!

I'm wondering how open are the people of Oman to westerners?

You never hear much about it, is it safe to travel there?

I visited Oman last year and felt very safe. It's definitely much safer than many "western" cities.
I also went on couple of road trips away from the coast/inland and I was welcomed everywhere I went.
