Angola development booming?
Hey there ... I am new to this site
... my interest is in the booming construction in developing african countries ... can anyone tell me how many buildings built in Angola are actually above two storeys ?? Is there actually a market for lifts (elevators) and escalators in buildings? If so, how many lifts do you believe are sold in Angola????![]() are these items not luxuries???

Where have you been the last 5 years?
Are you serious? Haven't you been reading newspapers, magazinges or watching TV the past 5 years?

Why are you condescending to him? He's trying to inform himself and that's good. Better than the typical judgmental BS we are used to as Africans.
Jellybat, there is a massive construction boom in Angola, with 10+ storey buildings. So, yes, there should be a healthy market for elevators, escalators, etc. Of course, the best way to find out would be to go there but from what I've seen on this forum, it seems like it's promising. |

It is not condescending! If he/she (I assume a he) wanted to know more regarding new development projects etc. he could have checked the Southern Africa section.
But why opening a whole new thread for it? Was that really necessary? So everyone who is new and wants to conduct some research should open a thread???

I don't feel that I am talking down to him. There are other ways to do that.
Ever heard of sarcasm? Besides, the guy is new. BUt my point in all this was: Is it really necessary to open a thread to conduct some research?

Wow. The way you address me is also condescending. I won't even waste my time with this since you clearly don't see it.

This is a classic example of a bad aspect of the Internet. Communicating through the Internet easily causes misunderstanding. From one's perspective it's condescending and from another it's sarcasm. When communicating verbally, you can play with the tone of your voice and have your facial expression. But when it's written, you read it as it is said and can easily take things the wrong way. I think that's what happened here.

Angola construction booming
Well, maybe my question was a little subtle for some. I was enquiring about the lift and escalator market in terms of the number of lift companies out there in Angola and quite frankly a perfectly honest question (does someone have an idea of how many lifts and escalators are being sold ... nothing silly about that!) ... Lift and user safety remains a priority in the lift industry and I was interested in the level of safety imposed in terms of the lift providers and building owners adhering to regulations (if any).
