Confirmed: 12pm Saturday 26th January
The manager has kindly agreed to fit in those couple of extra numbers, so everyone will get to go. Everybody on the first page of this thread will go on the first visit unless they are other wise engaged. It seems to be the fairest way to proceed.

I forgot to mention......Could we perhaps forewarn our host of any questions that we are likely to want to ask.
Could we list them here? I want to know if this buildings lopsided 'A' frame is unique?

Question: Was the tower designed with the Northgate proposal in mind, ie was there any consultation with that team at any stage? Or was the design stage mainly focused on the tricky site straddling the railway & St Pauls sightlines?

Damn, I'd love to go, but I'm currently recovering from a major op that I had back in November (I'm not particularly mobile right now!). Hopefully I'll be able to make the next site tour (and meet some of you guys in the process!) wherever and whenever that may be!

Yeah, let's hope the weather's okay... if it's anything like today then it's hardly worth bothering.

I'm afraid I dont come from a structural engineering background so my questions are bourne of observation and sheer curiosity
![]() 1) What extra problems were encountered/overcome by building such a structure directly over the top of rail lines heading into Liverpool Street. 2) Whats the relationship of structural 'support' between 201 Bishopsgate and Broadgate Tower....is it aesthetic or indeed structural ? 3) Explain in more detail 'how' the design is made to withstand a significant mid level structural compromise ( eg explosion) .. although that q sounds dodgy...I'm just interested in how structurally...this happens ![]() 4) When the Building is handed over..whats the support thats offered/left in place from the architects/developers when the building actually starts to get 'used' Do beam joint bolts need to be tested /inspected in the immediate, near and long term after the building is loaded ( occupied) 6) Why are all the windows/window frames manufactured and fitted by Germans ? What importance has been put ino the development to support UK business's 7) What will be the final lighting scheme and will there be any lights on the criss cross beams? 8) How energy efficient is the plant on the top floors in terms of heat exchange/recycled heat and how does their design compare to similar new constructions. 9) What have been the unexpected problems encountered through the build....what have you done to overcome them and what lessons are you taking away to the next project ? 10) If you had the choice ...what other /In construction/proposed London build would you like to stand as Construction Director for
