187. Capodigiano, a small village in the province of Potenza, Basilicata. Most of the buildings in this picture were rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1980 that also hit parts of Puglia and Campania.

That is a beautiful area of Southern Italy. I remember driving thru Potenza a couple of years ago on my way back to Napoli from Taranto. Believe it or not, this area is quite cold in the Winter and does receive a decent amount of snowfall there.

189. Villa Torrigiani is located in the hamlet of Camigliano, a town near Lucca (Tuscany). It is one of the most luxurious and beautiful villas around Lucca, dating from the second half of the sixteenth century. The villa stands out from other villas in Lucca by the multicoloured facade of the main building obtained using different materials: stone grey and tuff alternating yellow pillars and arches, marble statues of white, ochre plaster at the bottom with the upper part in white. The main axis of the villa is highlighted by a row of magnificent cypress trees, approximately 700 metres, which complement the facade of the villa. At the end of the avenue, near a majestic gate that enters the house, there is a small village, once intended for the servants.

190. The Church of Santa Maria and San Donato (Murano, Venice Lagoon) is one of the most important Byzantine church in Italy. It is known for its twelfth century Byzantine mosaic pavement and is said to house the bones of the dragon slain by Saint Donatus. This ancient church is deceptively simple in outward appearance. Its richly decorated interior has a marble-and-mosaic floor that was laid in 1140.

191. Another pic of Bomarzo, from the Monsters Park.
In Bomarzo, few Kilometers from the city of Viterbo, "The Sacred Wood" consists of a green area scattered with huge statues inspirated from several literary sources such as knightly poems, Dante Alighieri, Grecian-Roman mythology and esoteric tradition. Vicino Orsini dedicated this place to his loved wife Giulia Farnese.See also the first picture posted by Shezan. image hosted on flickr ![]() ---

193. Capo Colonna (Calabria), Attica region (Magna Graecia - Megálē Hellas/Μεγάλη Ἑλλάς). At the head of this scenic cape, which overlooks the Ionio Sea, stands the one remaining column of what was once a great greek temple dedicated to Hera Lacinia. In fact the site was home to a Sanctuary dedicated to the goddess, and evidence indicates that there were several other buildings on the site.
