Nice project, Dubai and Russia have another thing in common, first those shape-shifting towers and now, artificial islands.

This looks cool - like some kind of dinosaur island. I like it better than the palms or the world.

How disappointing, I thought this thread would be about the 2014 Winter Olympics developments in Sochi. Instead, it's about another over the top island development. Isn't there plenty of nice coastline in southwestern Russia that could use the money that's going to be put into this development? Or is this a hoax?

I think so too but then again people sometimes prefer to stay rural , underdeveloped when it comes to modernise the eviroment around them ,maybe this is one of the reasons

The artificial island will be connected to the shoreline, by a bridge and two tunnels.

I'm actually expecting that this thread is about the developments in the Sochi Olympic Park... I actually find the design of the structures really amazing especially the Olympic Stadium... Why don't we just talk about Sochi Olympic developments here and not about this Federation Island development...

The 2014 Winter Olympics are going to be fantastic for Russia. I visited Russia (from Irkutsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg) in June 2007 and I remember seeing things about the 2014 bid; I'm glad Sochi won!!
totally agree, this one look 100 times better than the Palm or The World.

Sochi is the only subtropical and warm city in Russia. You can call it the "Miami" of Russia.

I don't belief it until a major load of it is actually finished.

Given the current global crises and given the problems one can hear regarding the olympic real estate developments I am quite skeptical that this project will be ever realized. Of course I can err, but thats my impression so far.

Why copycats? The japanese did it before the Dubai "hey, look at me, I exist" thing.

Search for Kansai Intl Airport and Maishima Sport Island.
