I've only visited Melbourne, Sydney, Camberra and Adelaide so can only really comment on these cities. All were great cities in their own right and had intersting and unique architecture.

Melbourne and Sydney, by their bigger nature had better skylines. Of the 2 i would have to say I prefer Melbourne. Sydney is a beautiful city with its stunning harbour and the obvious landmark buildings, and makes it a much more attractive destination for visitors. However I felt that Melbourne's skyline had a slightly classier feel to it with more impressive buildings and on a grander scale. There is a nice sense of space in the CBD (without being too spread out) and the River makes a nice focal point (I guess giving it more of a European feel)! Still congrats to all you Aussies for giving us so many spectacular cities!

Well the old debate for the umpteenth time...

Sydney is naturally beautiful though spoiled by ugly buildings and a bad plan really...
Melbourne doesn't have the setting but was planned well, has good architecture in general..

Best skyline: Melbourne
Best city: Sydney (too much density for Melbourne too match, and Im not just talking about the CBD, Im talking about the suburban skylines and the general density of the inner suburbs.)

If only Adelaide will one day be on people's lists. For it's population it is really lacking in height. Shame. I will go with Sydney though Melbourne is a close second. More diversity and greater architecture.

The Gold Coast is very special a swell though Brissie and Perth will become magical cities in the near future.

Melbourne for sure! This city has special connections to me!

I also like Gold Coast and Sydney's settings!

This thread has shown why Australian cities are great urban centres of the "New World"...each capital city in Australia with a population over 1 mil has a significant skyscraper skyline...so many great skylines (and urban sub-cultures) from such a sparsely populated and spread out country...just spare a moment and reflect on each of the skylines of Syd, Melb, Bris, Gold Coast, Perth...one by one...ahh, that's skyscraper satisfaction.

No need to guess which is my favourite...just read my signature...
