There is no La Defense in Kyiv so you can either build it in old districts or commieblock districts, since the first is not an option you can only do it among commieblocks.

By the way - Tryzub in Ukrainian means trident and it is coat of arms of Ukraina. Building looks great imho.

Yes, it's loosely based on ukrainian coat of arms

Previous, rejected designs

Here you see previous, older versions of the skyscrapers in front of it

I don't like it. Looks like a bit cheap Chinese-styled skyscraper. Kiev deserves so much better.

If it is called Tryzub - which means three teeth - where is the third one? I only see two. Though is looks very original indeed. Nice addition to Kiev.

The early projects had three "teeth", maybe the new project won't be called tryzub.

From the certain point of view it reminds of Moscow city hall.. But this tower is way more ellegant than russian one. I think so..

Nice

Though with the latest redesign it looks like Dvozub rather than Tryzub

I assume that the third is the metaphorical one assumed by the vacant space, also marked by the dome at the bottom. The dome representing the "hawk-head" at the bottom of the tryzub.

Oh I see it now. Also Trezub - means trident - so it is from Ukraine coat of arms I guess.

I'm well aware of it. I do post in the Ukrainian forum on occasion. However, there is no formal name for all the bits that I'm aware of. Some of the hypotheses regarding the tryzub was that it was inspired by a diving hawk - hence the "hawk-head."
