Old Reichsautobahn. Current interchange 'Bielany'

Cobblestone section, picture from 50s

Some part of current A18 was closed for traffic in 1950s. Because Soviet troops had base in these area

Roadsigns (with roadnumbers!) in (i think) Belgrade

"One direction"

Touristic signage

"Taxivehicles only"

"First aid for traffic"

Sign "It is better to arrive late than never"

Were such concrete roads popular in YU? They remind me very much of RABs.

Early signage in the United States.

Looking west at the junction of then-new U.S. Route 36 (east, northwest) and an existing route to Kansas City, Missouri (southwest). Modern-day junction of Illinois Route 104 (east, northwest) and U.S. Route 54 (southwest)

date: Soon after 1926

They are from GDDKiA site, but I don't know from where exactly. Ask in S3 Szczecin - Gorzów thread.

those were conrete made roads. i don't remember a plenty of them, but i'm sure in 1960es there were lots of them. i know that main important roads were built in that way. but i cannot imagine drivind upon those concrete squares for 400 km. i remember one of the last roads in that was - D41 Dugo Selo - Sesvete (Zagreb suburbia), it is some 7-8 km and it was horrible sounding.

Concrete was quite popular on main roads, I think. But long ago. There are very few concrete roads in Slovenia nowadays (and (almost) no new concrete roads, even pavement in tunnels has been changed to asphalt, which is less slippery). Some 5-10 km of the old road Ljubljana - Kranj is still concrete (by Kranj) and quite bad. Particularly horrible concrete is north of Logatec, luckily just 1 km.

Lucky you - concrete is a very good base for new asphalt layers.

No entrance to Wrocław for people not vaccinated against smallpox.

Notice XX plates - these were probably for Wrocław.
