Funny how this is downtown, yet in the rendering there isn't another building in sight.

Yes, renderings are very misleading.
This one is totally wrong. It appears that the street we are seeing the building from is Sherbourne but it is not. It is a tiny street that runs along the north side parrallel to Wellesley. We are looking south (where the church is) from this view and you would see Verve just to the south/west and the entire Toronto skyline. There will be a park in between this building and Verve. Photos taken February 22, looking east towards Sherbourne, the pit is not deep but it is very big. 490 Sherbourne is the building under construction on the right.

I am afraid I find it clunky, inelegant and terribly 80's...
![]() It is in my nabe. Lacks the proportions and slim lines of Verve. The "thing" on the right looks like a mausoleum. And the bucolic charm of the pastoral setting is pure fiction.

I have to agree with Taller, Better. It doesn't deseve to grace the same block as Verve.
Also, what's going on with the construction?! It was left untouched for months now. I could understand why they're building the mausoleum...its because the project is dead. March 26

I had a laugh when I saw the render as well. I know they like to take some liberties to showcase the building but gimme a break. Is this thing going up in downtown Toronto or Tottenham.

Well, I'm sure there is some cultivation going on in neighbourhood basements. I suppose we aren't allowed to call that farming though.

![]() If you stop at your neighbours to borrow a cup of sugar, it will probably cost you $30,000!!

lol, thanks for the late-night laughs guys!
::smokes a bowl:: the tower looks really good though, apart from the random masoleum next to it. the render is not too trustful though. after the regency yorkville...i would never trust one of those again unless it was a really high quality picture. |

What about Vu across from Moss Park, Queen and Sherbourne. That's a really nice neighborhood, no?
I have a friend who lives in a million dollar mansion surrounded by homeless shelters and halfway houses. I'd rather be across St. Jamestown then next to homeless shelters any day.... That's Toronto and city living. Take it or leave it. If it was that bad then why is Tridel building Mansion and Verve on Sherbourne? |

It is not that bad. I am down there a lot and have friends living very close to there. All part of life in the big city. There are some amazing old Vic's and Georgians ánd even some smart Greek Revival townhouses ( I read in the Globe yesterday that a Greek Revival townhouse in Manhattan, once owned by Meryl Streep, went for a cool $16 million) down there that are big and FULL of character, and still affordable because of the public housing.
