sporadic but the regular photo section is 10x better. The point is that the regular section kind of makes the "found city photos" forum obsolete.

Don't you get that there's an appreciation for originally taken photographs from both SSP and SSC forumers. The reason why they get special attention, is for the very reason they are members of either forum and went to the effort to take these picture sand post them here. To make it simple for you to understand TalB, there is a definable diffence between taking the effort to take your own pictures and creating threads for them, as opposed to uploading other peoples work from the internet, and posting them on a forum..... as opposed to searching images on the internet and posting the URLs to make a photo thread. Orginality, is a trait that most people place value upon.

Unfortunately MIIAIIRIIK, you are just giving me repeated statements that I have already debunked from others not to mention how it's like the anual anti-WNBA ramblings I find that state nothing new everytime I find them. While I do acknoweldge those who take pics of places, it doesn't mean that they should be given prefences. It is like saying that minority groups should be under the law in many third world nations b/c they are inferior by your logic. Also, this is very similar to George Orwell's Animal Farms in that those with speical ablities got above the law, while rest weren't. Message boards aren't about who can make the best shots, it's about the quality of what there is to show here. Besides, most photographers make their own blogs rather than be over here. In the long run, I can expect that there will be the same fourmers each day just like over at SSP. On a sidenote, I have been told that you are still making insults of me over there. Instead of going on the all out defensive, back your claim like I am. Just like how you can't proove how the public supported the FT or how those oppossed to the Atlantic Yds complex are against, you can't seem to disproove me on this.

Since nobody asked that question I gave on it ever being an issue before now, I will answer it myself. My take is that it wasn't one, and that anyone who answered no would just be giving more of a reason. It is not like Jan had ever recieved possible lawsuits from other places for taking their pics before unless anyone can provide the records that he has, but it doesn't have to posted here, it can be done via PM. On a sidenote, it is not wise to use larger fonting and boldface to react b/c it doesn't help anyone just humiliate them as I remembered hearing in a segment by John Tesh on message boards, chatrooms, and emails, so just state a claim with normal writing and facts, and that's another statement I didn't come up with arbitrairly.

Well there is one thing about engaging in such discussions with TalB.
It's a laugh and a pain at the same time.

If he keeps complaining just brig him. God it's gotta be tiring for mods and admins that tal thinks he can set and switch the rules up on top of protesting nearly everything on this site.

Bump for this as people are neglecting to credit photos.

This needs a bump as people are getting very careless and lazy about crediting the photos they are posting. It will waste your time if you don't credit them, as they will be deleted, or the threads locked. Please have the courtesy to tell us where your pictures come from if you post them in this section. Thank you.

Here is a nice guide by Skelie Wag that explains in simple English how to credit Flickr photos without breaking any applicable copyright laws. Skelie makes a very good point drawing a distinction between different copyright formats (all rights reserved/attribution licensing) and using examples of a properly credited work:
http://www.skelliewag.org/a-complete...images-162.htm It is naive to expect that by taking someone else's creative work, be it a painting or a photograph, you are doing the author a favor. I think people need to understand a very basic idea that by no means photographs protected by copyright laws may be copied, moved onto a different hosting service, or otherwise used without an explicit written permission from the author. If users still want to use copyrighted photos, they must at least credit the author following the format described in Skelie's post.

I was one of guys with crediting issues - simply forgot to do it sometimes. I fixed it as I agree actual authors deserve credits. Still there's one thing about new rules I don't like. If some member wants to post self-made photo in this section - it should be allowed (with "self-made" note), at least in allready existing threads. E.g.: I got some shots I made my own, but find it needless to start new thread in Urban Showcase just to show several shots - it won't be interesting, while shots could complete some old thread. I'd like to add them to existing threads here (did it once and "Taller, Better" noticed me), and it should be allowed. Anyone agree?? I don't find Urban Showcase/Cityscapes and Skyline Photos separation good, convenient and desirable for most forumers, but I accept it. Still I feel admins should think over forementioned issue. Thank You and... "na zdrowie"

In general people have been adding the occasional photo of their own in the Cityscapes section, but there are people who are posting a lot of self taken photos there because they do not want to post in the Urban Showcase section. This rather defeats the purpose of having the second section. So the occasional picture is ok, but in general start a new thread if you have a number of pics and put it in Urban Showcase. Be proud of your own work and show it off!!

I suppose the talented people that actually do the hard work and take the photos that we enjoy so much by borrowing them to post here.
