I've never been to Alaska but it looks beautiful. That cruise ship shot of Jeneau reminds me of Jamaica. It looks more tropical then it is with its big, green mountains right on the water with cruise ships. Of course it does warm up during the summer in Alaska.

It looks nice. Lots of nature but I can't see myself living there.

Recently the setting of a major film based on a true story:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0758758/ Into the Wild Also where the Simpsons ran away to in the Simpsons movie. BTW, is it true that people get money from the state of Alaska to move/live there? |

I've always wanted to go to Barrow. My dad used to drive trucks up there.

I know Fairbanks has gotten up to 100º, which is the state's highest temperature, but I think that most highs in the Summer in the middle of the state are in the 60's.
Everyone gets $500 from the state, if I'm correct. That's what is being referred to on the income tax forms when they ask about "Alaska Permanent Fund" or whatever it's called. |

Usually the PFD is more around $1000. You start getting it a few years after you move, and you have to apply for it every year.

I have been there once and will again. My fav time was on the Kenai pennisula in a town called Homer at the end of the spit. To little time to expand right now , I will later sorry. Go ALK. |
