Lol, so I take it you've been to Oz LEAFS or just falling for the sensationalism? I suspect the latter, so while you freeze your balleens off in lovely Canada, I'm sitting at my desktop with only my shorts on after going for a swim at the beach which is a mere one minute walk from my house and didn't see one shark, jelly-fish or stingray in sight and haven't seen any all summer...

Anyway Greece has gorgeous beaches no doubt, quaint and calm. But IMHO from all the places i've been to, which includes most Mediterranean countries and coming from someone who has partial ancestry from one of those beautiful Greek islands, I'd say Thailand has the BEST beaches in the world. Lush vegetation, sandy shores, many islands + exceptionally hospitable people, mouth watering cuisine, very reasonably priced and many other reasons.

Having been to Australia and Thailand, I must disagree with you. The vast variety of beaches that can be found in Greece is rarely matched anywhere else in the world. The Thai beaches are amazing but that is all I really enjoyed there. I'll take the cuisine of Greece or Italy (or the mediterranean cuisine, for that matter) over Thai cuisine any day. Also, the ambience of siiting at a taverna right on the shores or cliffs of a Greek island with views like this cannot be matched by anything in Thailand:

Just my humble opinion.

No I'm serious, I've been to Canada, Quebec and Ontario and loved it very much. Would go back any day and want to see more of that beautiful country.

OK, taste is subjective. Have you seen the film The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio set in Thailand? My friend who has ancestry in Lesbos, just came back from his honeymoon in Thailand. He said they went out on a boat and reached this passage and entered a sort of lagoon or sea surrounded by a circular island with lush vegetation, monkeys and other fauna running freely, an ancient Buddhist temple beautifully carved in wood lay high in the hills, affording spectacular views over the ocean and nearby islands. He said it was the most beautiful place he's ever seen. But like I said taste is subjective. I don't like to compromise taste and views with patriotic feelings.

ELLIN, great pics. Keep'em coming.

I have been to Thailand too..and at Pi Pi islands where the film La plage took place....
i dont think that there is comparison...Greece has mediterenean type climate ,Thailand is tropics...
but if i had to chooce i would just say that beaches of Thailand have warmer waters
but Greek beaches are more friendly...better climate, not the short of breath of the heat of southeast asia...and furthermore safer sea waters...no sharks no wild life inside....just some really tasty sea life
and an other add is the different types of the greek beaches...you have beaches with palms, beaches with sand cliffs, rocky beaches, desert beaches, really green beaches, white sand, golden sand ,brown sand, volcanic sand....
Of corse Thailand has amazing beach coast...and i have told in the past that Thailand like a country represents the Greece if it was in Asia: )(hundrets of beach coast kilometres, many islands, unique and different in comparison with others asian civilazation culture),I dont want lauphs on that but one of he greatest modern philosofers had speaked for the similarities and represenations for Asia regarding Thailand and for Europe regarding Greece for both countries...but far from its isolated beaches on the tiny islands ,you have to fight with the sea waters on the open beaches..at Patong beach is impossible to swim...you have to walk 1 kilometre to actually put your body under water......and in general the waters are agressive...
but let me tell you that from Thailand i loved Bangkok more than the sea waters: )and on my next trip to Asia, this amazing and truly Asian city will be again my first stop....as for the beaches....hmmm..really good, really exotic...really beautifull..regarding Pipi islands and some isolated of Ko Samui but summarizing im sure that somewhere there(Cook islands????Micronesia?????) there are better beaches///

Wow... are there any other great beaches on Santorini (Thira) that you can share other than the one you've shown. I'll be there in early June. I would love to go to one with that awesome color water. I guess that won't be found on Thira since it is volcanic.
