Karpathos island is quiet far from Athens,but there is a direct ferry connections with Athens port ,Pireaus....
It is an unspoitl place,with really good beaches,and a favourite destination of the sailing boats...

Sports are sports...Allways will be a winer and a looser.....and they can change positions.....the true is that both Greece and Portugal although are small countries in comparison with other countries of the world,both are really good at Sports.....Portugal more in football,Greece more in Basketball

but never be sure about....the revenge is to take the basketball European championship in a final from Greece in the future ....
Let me say that many friends that have visit Portugal during that time,they fell in love with Lisbon....

I don't know Greece but mine friends say that athens is chaotic, dirty and disorganized city but the rest of greece is very pretty..

No I dont know this city...Porto,Lisbon and Faro is the places i know....
Athens .....big story...maybe before Olympics was like that in parts of the centre....but definetely now the city has made great imrpovements....dont forget thats its population is about 5 million people....so it is a really big city ...with many blue water beaches on the beach supurbs..tottaly green on the north supurbs,and with world famous monuments...the history is heavier than anything else in this city....and you can spot the history everywhere...even in the parks you can see pieces of Marbles from the past ancient temples...or thousand years old churhes where the word Christianity was first spelled in West......once knows for its polluted and chaotic enviroment before the Olympics of 2004 ,has changed amazingly,due to also great organized Olympic games...an other unexpected and victorious 2004 event for Greece

..As for the rest of the country...well it is true that with 2000 islands and thousand kilometres of Beach coast ,and Mountains...there are lot things to admire and see..even for a human's life..
2008...im waiting for this event..i really cant think who can be the championship......you are seem to be really sure for the results...anyway....i hope to be the best ....

ya Faro city is very known by being the capital of Algarve.. but the greaters citys are Lisbon (Lisboa in portuguese), Oporto (Porto), Braga, Coimbra and Funchal.. Coimbra have one of the most old university of the world.. I go to Turkey and Greece with my girlfriend and friends in this summer. (Instambul, Athens, Santorini and beaches..)

I know of Greece Athens (Atenas in portuguese), Thessaloniki (Tessalónica) and Santorini..
The try in summer: Turkey/Greece or Egypt..

Egypt is great!! I have been there..i dont know about Turkey....iam planning a visit there...but i wouldnt mix the countries by one trip..I allways prefer to spend the days i have in one country ..and learn from my trip as much as i can than making a trip to 2-3 countries together...maybe for an Austarlian due to the distances will be normal,but for you that you are about 4 hours air trip...???
Whatever,,,everything depends of how many days you plan to spend in each place and what are the things you like to see and enjoy.......
