Chula or Bangkok?

As to Chula, I haven't really been in there except for a superficial level due to the majority of my research occurring at Sichang Island. Really just go there to visit with the professor I am connected with.
But it is a pretty nice campus; I really like the archtechture of the old campus. The Friday market is especially nice.

In the case of Bangkok, it is like another home for me as I have been this place multiple times since I was an infant for purposes of visiting realtives.
Frankly wouldn't want to live here too long as I don't really care for the car-right-of-way, the really aggressive driving, the smell of open sewers, smog, visible pile of garbage, etc.
I'm a small-town Midwest guy who has had his share of living in big cites of varying size (KCK, Jakarta, Bangkok). Good to visit, but probably not healthy for me in large doses. No offense.
That being said, it is still like another home for me, and the culture and stuff to do here is enough for me to overlook the negative big city aspects. Oh and the food mmm... not only delicious and diverse but cheap also. My biggest regret is that I didn't have enough time to do really much if anything this summer.
There's always next time though!

That's nice to hear! I agree with you about the Chula campus, its a really great looking one--so calm and leafy and full of character, and your pictures really show it in the best light. I'm not a student of Chula, but I was just curious about how "Thailand's Harvard" is seen to outsiders, particularly Western academics.

To be frank, I don't think that there is much of an opinion. I really didn't see that many western students over there even though this is summer.
Also at least were I am, Chula is quite unheard of for study abroad programs, even among SE Asian schools; Malaysian schools have quite a bit of PR at while there isn't anything from Thai schools (I am part of the Thai student association at my school and know that there are less than 20 Thai kids there, even when there is a huge international presence there (mainly from Asia and the Middle East)).
Only reason I got there for the internship was because my mom wanted me to do something over the summer and had connections. Though there is a possibility that, since I went there, I may help create a deal between my school and Chula.
I think that Chula possibly needs to advertise more to attract westerners there. There is a lot of potential in kids getting into study-abroad programs.

Thai Universities have a bit of a soul searching period going on with regards to International programs. Its easy for Malaysia and Singapore to attract Westerners because English is much more widely spoken and is even used academically. On the other hand, many Thai universities are afraid to completely commit themselves to full English studies as they are afraid of losing unique values and unique campus and student experiences yet they realize the importance of international education: thus, some initiatives are only given half-hearted support from the respective University's administration. Also, the main market for International Education in Thailand has turned out to be for local international school students and the International Colleges of big Universities end up being semi-autonomous groups of Thai international school students

I can see that.
Though what I'm talking about is international programs for science and engineering, since that what my school is. The professors speak English and will probably be willing to work one-on-one with the foreign students. That, and scientists and engineers pretty much speak the same language throughout the world.
And it opens up huge opportunities for cultural interaction. It was interesting working with the students at Chula; they seemed genuinely fascinated about my American background and would converse with me, not only to find out about where I live, but to improve their English as well.
