I am assuming they will wait until the Elections to resume with the rest of the projects (9 highrises)
What is great about this whole thing as you noticed in the other thread of Tirana Projects 2 , people in Albania are really developing a sense for creating something special.
You see it in Tirana with the clubs they have which are very upscale.
Everyone basiccally wants to be better than the other , wants to look more unique.
It's great to see

Car ownership was outlawed in Albania somewhere in late '50s or early 60s. Only in 1991 the rule was abolisched and car ownership allowed.

He is angry indeed. He was literally making the League of Nations chair look the most stupid person on earth...If you could just read his speech, I mean all of it... Man he was a strong, great man. The best speech ever!

I agree. Tirana is a VERY strange city, but I believe that it's one of the only cities that is soooo colourfull.

It is good, but I don't like Tirana. I think that they had to do these colorful things in order that people don't kill themselves, because before that, Tirana was awful. As I heard , people lived very hard there in 20th century till 1990s , something like people in South Corea, it was very closed country... I can just imagine how was it for people there during dictature and in those gray commies. It is good to change people's mentaality.... But as I said I don't like Tirana, I am sure that there are better places on the coast. Even Pristina ( I am very sad I must say this) or any other town in Kosovo and Metohija where Albanians are majority at the moment is more beautiful than these Albanian cities...

Tirana was pleasant during communism as well.
It wasnt all grey commie buildings , in fact commies in Albania prefered painting the apartment buildings in yellow.
People have this crazy idea that albanians lived so bad during communism but that's not the case at all.
We lived very good under communism , it's just that you could never become rich or leave the country.

As far as Prishtina being better than Tirana
Prishtina doesnt even look like a city but rather like a poor suburb.
Tirana is a very attractive city , i put it at the top of my list as far as the cities in the Balkans are concerned and is sure heading into that direction

Are you desperately trying to start some kind of fight? I happened to look at this post after I read the Gjirokastra city one. Are you just trying to provoke people?

Regarding Tirana, you may not like the colors, which is very common, but don't say nonsense. Tirana is one of the fastest growing cities in the region. Both the plan for its center and its Urban Master Plan are very, very promissing. All highrises are being approved by a broad commission of European and N. American architects so that they represent particular design qualities. The whole downtown area is awsome and not to mention the construction business and all the new buildings.

@FR, I have lost my digital camera apparently. I am trying to get a new one, or borrow one to some friend. A lot of buildings have been built out of the downtown area, mos tof them are nice. Some of them stay in harmony with Rama's taste. I will post pics asap and lets hope I will get a cam someway.

Albanians during communism and dictatorship lived as bad as someone can live is such regime and economical system. Just like any other country. Then it was the economical crisis when you had a certain allownce of how many eggs, how much milk, cheese or anything else you could consume per month. You could not eat more then what the party had decided . So, yes we lived bad. It is communism&dictatorship, you can safely assume people live bad, just as anywhere else. That's why we had the '90s. Albania was not different from other EE countries.
