any news on this project?

the third design is sooo much cooler and similar to the one in Dubai. I don't know why they go for the chosen one.

WCT eyes more Vietnam projects

PETALING JAYA: WCT Engineering Bhd is planning more projects in Vietnam following the approval obtained for its first commercial landmark in the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City.

Executive director Loh Siew Choh said it would still be in property development.

“We are applying for another investment certificate to develop another piece of land in Ho Chi Minh City,'' he told StarBiz in a telephone interview from Vietnam late on Wednesday.

With a population of 84 million, Vietnam offers huge potential to companies with good track record. Ho Chi Minh City alone has a population of 10 million.

“We hope this will be a new market for us,'' Loh said, adding that Ho Chi Minh City and its suburbs were the target for future projects.

Other positive factors include rising per capita and disposable incomes as well as good take-up rates for commercial space.

“Demand for grade A office space in Ho Chi Minh City is very high,'' Loh said. “Rentals in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City are going for US$40 to US$50 per sq m which is much higher than that in Kuala Lumpur.''

The company was awarded an investment certificate on Wednesday by the People's Committee Ho Chi Minh City to undertake the Platinum Plaza development project, located on 9ha in the Binh Chanh district.

The project will be undertaken by a joint-venture company, BSC-WCT Co Ltd, in which WCT will have a 67% stake. The land lease or duration of the project is 50 years.

“There is a big shortage of retail space and a need for a proper shopping mall,'' Loh said.

The Platinum Plaza represents the largest commercial development to date and is expected to be built in four years. Construction is expected to start by year's end.

The project includes a shopping mall, a four-star hotel, two office blocks of 22 storeys each and small office home office units. The total gross floor area is 671,960 sq m.

“We have to show our seriousness and establish good relationships in the country,'' Loh said.

Delivery and track record are factors closely watched by the authorities there. Within the WCT organisation, there are people who have years of experience working in Vietnam.

The group aims to build its good name in Vietnam like the way it had established itself in the Middle East.

“It (the business in the Middle East) was not created overnight,'' Loh had told StarBiz in an earlier interview. “It was a result of hard work by the business development team in the last six years, making WCT Engineering well known as well as delivering results.''

The group has its regional office in Abu Dhabi and offices in Dubai, Doha, Oman and Bahrain. Two of its biggest projects are the RM4.6bil Meydan Racecourse in Dubai and the RM1.3bil Abu Dhabi Formula One Circuit.

WCT Engineering is in 50% partnership for these projects and also has a number of jobs in Bahrain and Qatar.

Render đâu đó post lâu rồi mà, xấu lắm! Là đất của nhà máy dệt TC cắt ra xây chung cư khỏang 10-15 tầng thôi.

Ahah, nhưng Location như thế th́ tớ không ham Xa TT thành phố, bụi bặm, đường TC hay kẹt xe + nghe tiếng máy bay gầm rú suốt ngày đêm.

Ông Nguyễn Hoài Nam, Tổng Giám đốc Tập đoàn Berjaya Việt Nam (thuộc Tập đoàn Berjaya Malaysia) vừa cho biết, trong quư I-2008 sẽ khởi công xây dựng Trung tâm Tài chính Việt Nam tại khu vực hồ Kỳ Ḥa (Q.10, TP.HCM).
Tổng diện tích dự án là 6,8 ha, trong đó diện tích xây dựng khoảng 1triệu m2. Dự án bao gồm hệ thống hai khách sạn năm sao (khoảng 800 pḥng), hai văn pḥng cho thuê cao 48 tầng và khu dịch vụ dành cho những người nước ngoài làm việc lâu dài tại Việt Nam. Trong đó có hai tầng hầm dành để đậu xe ô tô với 3.326 chỗ và một trung tâm thương mại lớn nhất Việt Nam tính tới thời điểm này. Tổng vốn đầu tư của dự án trên 700 triệu USD, dự kiến hoàn thành trong ṿng bốn năm tới.

Quy mô của dự án có thể dùng để tổ chức hội nghị, hội thảo tầm cỡ quốc gia hoặc khu vực với lượng khách khoảng 1.000 người. Dự kiến, trung tâm tài chính này sẽ thu hút được những tập đoàn lớn về tài chính, bảo hiểm trong và ngoài nước.

does anybody know how many blocks in total of the whole Saigon Pearl project ?

And any renders of that 1.2 bil dollars project which dactrung mentioned about ?

SG Pearl has 10 blocks in which 8 blocks of 37-storey condos and two blocks of 40-60storey office and hotel.

Rendering of Saigon Finance Centre (US$1.2bil): Come to Berjaya office and see, it's fantastic. or else we have to wait when they publicize the info.

Titanic: any ideas, can u find it somewhere in the internet!!!

Saigontourist Holding Company, Vietnam's leading hospitality firm, has plans to build a complex of 4,000 hotel rooms in Thu Thiem New Urban Area in HCM City's District 2, the company's CEO said.

Nguyen Huu Tho, general director of Saigon tourist, said at a end of the year meeting with reporters last night in Van Thanh Tourist Park that the company would build high-class hotels in the complex to meet increasing demands.

"HCM City will see a shortfall of around 20,000 hotel rooms in 2020. So we want to develop the big complex of luxury hotel rooms to meet the increasing demand of high-income visitors," he said.

Tho did not elaborate on current preparations for the development plan.

However, board chair of Saigontourist Le Van An told the Daily on the sidelines of the meeting that "the process is going on."

The complex will cover five hectares in the new urban town, and "the city government has given the green light to our project," he said.

Tho also said the group was scaling up investment for hotel projects, putting a dab of extra quality on the picture of the hospitality industry.

For the new tourism development trend, the budget spent on each project to build new hotels and upgrade existing ones is increasing, he told reporters.

"In the past few years, we spent around 100-150 billion dong on each hotel project but now we are spending around US$100 million on such a project," he said, explaining that in the new stage of the development, the tourism industry must develop more new, top-quality and large-scale projects to meet higher demands of guests.

Tho said that in the second quarter of this year, the company would start work on the project to build a hotel complex on the premises of the current Kim Do Hotel and the surrounding area on HCM City's Nguyen Hue Boulevard into the complex of an office building, a trade centre, and a five-star hotel of 40 stories. It will also spend around US$50 million to expand the five-star Majestic Hotel.

"We are receiving a good signal from the business sector," he said, citing strong response from customers for its new developments.

He said that in November of this year, the company would open a convention hall of 10,000 square metres, and other tourism and event-related facilities in the newly-urbanised Saigon South but now, "the hall already has full bookings until 2010."

"Business will develop when all works of the exhibition and convention centre in Saigon South including three other meetings halls of 30,000 square metres and two hotels of 1,000 rooms are opened," he said.

In its list of developments in the next few years are several more high-class hotels, including one in front of the Park Hyatt Saigon Hotel, and one to expand the Oscar Hotel on Nguyen Hue Boulevard.

"We are trying our best to increase the total number of standard hotel rooms under our management to 6,000 in 2010 compared with the current 4,000," he said.

Saigontourist in 2007 served over 1.56 million local and international tourists, up 6.2% compared to 2006. Its total revenue last year amounted to 6.3 trillion dong, or nearly US$400 million.

The company expects to welcome some 1.64 million tourists in this year with total revenue of 7.13 trillion dong.

như vậy saigon pearl chậm tiến độ 1 năm (hiện tại), sapphire tower vẫn chưa thấy động tĩnh ǵ.
Manor chậm tiến độ (tối thiểu) là 2 năm (ban đầu dự kiếm P2 là 2006-2008, bây h vẫn chưa có j, như vậy nếu resume trong năm nay th́ đến 2010 mới xong)

Hầu hết những dự án mới đều từ 30-40 tầng trở lên, rất ít các dự án <30s, 1 tín hiệu lạc quan (tuy triển khai c̣n chậm)

lạy trời cho thằng Kumho xây cái tower 34f cao cao 1 chút (= saigon trade center th́ good!)

Horizon Tower sao rồi???

Bệnh viện ĐH Y Khoa h́nh như die rồi.

C̣n mấy cái project ở Q4 nữa.

Hotel này chắc Saigontourist xây rồi bán lại cho tập đoàn nn chứ hotel của SGtourist th́ chắc ḿnh kô dám ở.
