It was fun shooting it. Unfortunately I'm a little too far away for shooting updates regularly. I'm confident that construction will be getting very interesting in a couple of months. A nice quality impuls for La Defense. I will keep following your updates

Actually I think things are pretty well arranged there. Traffic and pedestrians are mostly situated at different levels. The esplanade (if I use the right term) is only accessible by foot, which gives it a releatively quiet atmosphere. Motorized vehicles, metro etc. are situated underneath and around it, same for parking spots. As far as I can judge it's definately not a mess. So must be the pictures.

You're right Marc. When the tower starts to get its distinctive silhouette & its first glazing panels, people will be following the construction with of lot more attention I guess. Actually I think that it's already starting to be very interesting (with the pouring of the mighty columns among others).

As you're far from Paris, I'll try my best to update this thread regurlarly for you & our comrades (at least once a week).

Regarding the street planning Zapor (& to complement Trademarc's explanations), just know indeed that La Défense is built on a slab, therefore there's an important gap between the buildings & the traffic lanes. Furthermore, there are many works going on, not only constructions of new towers but also the Boulevard Circulaire planning; which represent the biggest investment from the EPADESA (organization running La Défense), aimed to make the traffic easier in terms of connections and access. Its goal also is to create an urban unity with the surroundings & to develop shops, wide pavements (pedestrians) & cycling lanes. There are already 2 new towers under construction (Carpe Diem & Majunga), D2 is about to start as the existing building (VERITAS) is almost totally demolished, the Tour Eqho (former Descartes, opposite Carpe Diem tower) is being entirely renovated both externally/internally & a huge structure (next to D2) is being constructed to allow the storage of equipment & machines for D2 Tower(171m) & AIR2 Tower (202m) whose works are going to start very soon with the demolition of the Aurore Tower (future AIR2 site). So, given it all, I won't call the street planning 'messy' either...

That's pretty soon, wasn't this tower finished something like 15 years ago?

Btw, when I was there, it showed hardly any activity there. Looking at Jex pics it looks like nothing changed since.

Actually, work is progressing nicely on the EQHO Tower (former Descartes) & there's definitely some activity on site. Here's its thread :

The Descartes tower was completed in 1988.

I'll post some new pics of Carpe Diem in the week guys!
