Same applies for quality of camera...If you have so much money as you buy a professional camera but took an ordinary picture, you are worse than someone who made an effort to find good location,a nice theme, nice angle and captured a more aesthetic picture even though the clearness of the first picture would be better owing to better camera but it doesn't make the first guy a better photographer.
I agree! People here are voting in favour of pictures just because they were taken in Pakistan.

Ideally, people should vote based on the quality of the photograph, and not its subject matter. They do however apply their own criteria in judging a picture.
It may be a good idea for this contest, if voters were to offer up some constructive criticism; Perhaps offer some insight into what appealed to them.

Okk lets see now. There are lots of different angles from which a picture can be viewed. e.g. technical, what the subject is etc.

For me FK's picture was nice because it's kind of spur of the moment type of pic where the train is passing and he just took it's picture. But I like that you can still see the people on the opposite platform (or is it the reflection of the people on the same platform?) in the pic.

All the pictures this time are better than last time.

cntower. Good subject and clarity however no special thinking process had to be employed for this pic. It's a scenery and a nice one at that. But still It's not like a unique pic so you didn't get my vote.

Abid Very nice subject. I like how you present the pic with the caption. You were a close second for me..but I kind of like black and white pictures more so i guess thats why i didn't vote for your pic.

mtf777 Nice crisp and clear picture. One can see good details. However not a unique or special subject for me.

Hierophant I like how you framed the picture and took the shot. It's extremely nice. However I didn't vote because of the technicality ...i.e. the pillar on the left is not aligned with the frame of the pic ().

adzees Another good one. But somehow too plain. Like the 'guy just went out on his balcony and took a picture' kind of thing.

Techno I know the place is super cool...but problem is I cannot see much in the picture

pakboy Good effort and nice picture. But I wasn't inspired or didn't find it very special. Sorry

Et ceterna I like this picture and quality. But it has this 'barren' and kind of depressing feeling to it for me.

vazimAlmost voted for this one. Crisp pic and nice subject with the traffic in the foreground adding a touch of realism.

Badman5Gives a good idea of Dubai's skyline. but too random a pic for me. Like just a guy taking pics from his car.

kbboyVery niice pic. Gives a nice feeling after looking at it.

In the end great effort by everyone. I am not a pro photographer..heck not even amateur or into photography in the first place. But since you guys made such an effort in posting pics I had to comment on them. Plus these are my own personal comments from a layman's point of view and from my own personal likes/dislikes about pics. e.g. I like black and white pics etc. So please do not be offended or feel let down. I just wrote what I felt like about the pictures.
For me all of the pictures this time are above average!! Keep it up guys

On the dot analysis.

Subject matter does matter. Pics of Pakistan can't compete with beautiful landscapes of France or skyline of Dubai. Unusal or interesting subject makes up for lack of quality sometimes.

If possible, perhaps have two categories for pics; one of Pakistan and one for others. Just a suggestion, not to ruffle anyones feathers.

Voted for pix 9
I like the depth of feild in the picture, which make me look at it deeper for a while. I have passed by this place several times and at different hrz of the day but havent seen this place like before. So that makes it a well captured moment!

@ Red Arrow

Although the place is not so Super Cool from my experience, my aim was not to highlight the place but to capture the 'light and darkness' drama created by moving vehicle after Maghrib.

But comments always appreciated!

Red Arrow, you did a fine job of analyzing the photographs.

I would just like to add:
Techno-Architect: good work with the extended exposure, its just unfortunate that the noise level is a bit high.

Badman5: The street railing distracts from the skyline.

Vazim: You have taken a lovely night shot. However I did find it to be a bit 'cluttered'.

With regards to my own photograph, I do find the pillar's lack of alignment displeasing. Unfortunately it was a choice of either that or a slanted horizon (which is level with the frame)
