Rotterdam - Dutch New York

In this thread I will show you guys some pics of Rotterdam. The only city in The Netherlands with 'realy' high buildings, and many high buildings u/c. The part of land next to the Erasmusbridge is also called, Manhattan at the Maas (river).

The pics are old, and made by me and my dad at the 18th of September 2007, so they are recent. Sometimes a bit blurry. Hope you like it though. Soon I'm going to Rotterdam again, with a friend.

Sometimes with comment, most of them not, hope you don't mind!

Overview;

Erasmubridge;

Now they are alone, soon this is going to be Manhattan at the Maas;

There used to go hunderds of people from Rotterdam to New York;

New York feeling;

The Red Apple u/c;

KPN Headquarters;

Old waterhouse;

The boat where we (me and my dad) took the tour on;

Montevideo, highest building, there is a 165m u/c;

There still are some old buildings, build before the bombing;

One of the buildings wich will be next to the, possible being build, 208.5m tower;

The skyline from a distance;

Twins;

Tallest again;

Bridge zoom;

And the Red Apple again;

I hope you liked this update, and offcourse like Rotterdam

PS: You don't have to tell me about the pictures quality, they are bad! Lol.

Well yes, lots of towers are going to be constructed in the next 5 years. Nice pics! But you should watch your amount of sky in the pictures.. the ground is much more interresting . But nice pics, especially the last ones

Although some of the highrises are not particularly beautiful, the density of Rotterdam is one of the best in Europe and it seems like it will even get much better in the near future.

Nice pics, but it's a shame you didn't show the Weena and it's surroundings.

Nice, but it's not like New York yet. More like the Kansas City of the Netherlands. :P

I don't think the title is referring to the fact that Rotterdam looks like New York, because it doesn't. I think it just means that New York is the skyscraper city of the USA and the financial centre. Just like Rotterdam is the skyscraper city of the Netherlands and the financial centre.

The skyscraper city, true. The financial center??? Not true. Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht are just as much financial centers.

Also... nice to show a lot of pics, but I have to say that these pics somehow look like scanned pictures of an 80's brochure. They do NOT do my beloved city any justice. Also the pictures do not show the most impressive sections and perspectives of the city when it comes to buidlings and skyscrapers.

And please loose any reference to New York. NYC is NYC and Rotterdam is Rotterdam, eventhough NYC has a Rotterdam Avenue and Rotterdam has a Hotel New York!
