New BW3Buffalo Wild Wings hopes to be back downtown by summer. The restaurant chain plans to take about 6,800 square feet next door to Borders at the southeast corner of Meridian and Washington streets. Franchise owner Pete Watson said he has agreed to lease the former home of Ralph’s Deli, which has been vacant more than 10 years. He hopes to start construction in late March and open by early July. Watson owns 12 BW3 locations, including Indianapolis-area locations in Castleton, Fishers, Broad Ripple and Greenwood. Former downtown franchise owner Mike DeWeese closed his downtown BW3 on Maryland Street in May 2007 and reopened it as an independent called Bada Boomz.

Any update on this? I haven't noticed any work on the space.
They're definitely working on the new bw3s now:

The main door was open and I took a peak inside. It looks like they've gutted the place and are just starting to put it back together. The space is massive.

That space always seemed like a no-brainer.

Hello, it's right across from Circle Center Mall and on one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the whole city. It just sat there for years. Maybe the landlord was tough to deal with.

Nothing downtown or in redevelopment in Indy is a "no brainer". There's always something.

I don't follow. It's a great location, that's what's a no-brainer.

The new draft IRTIP is out. See it at www.indympo.org. It included proposed funding for bicycle lanes along Allisonville Rd. from the Binford split all the way to 82nd St. I hadn't heard of that one before.

No Gramm is full of shit. Inflation is at its highest level in 25 years, median income has declined by almost $2,500 over the past seven years, we have a zero personal savings rate in America for the first time since the Great Depression, and 5 million people have slipped below the poverty level since the beginning of the decade.

You can call it "whining." I call it stating the facts.

I don't know if I'd say people who are losing their homes and jobs are whiners and have mental recession. But we disagree and can leave it at that

I think former Sen. Gramm's point was that people like you and Hoosier are whining about "people" losing houses and jobs even if you aren't losing yours and even though it's not even a real recession. (Definition: 2 consecutive quarters of GDP shrinkage.) We've had low growth (~1%) but not shrinkage in the economy yet.

Everyone under about 30-35 years of age is too young to remember the last real recession. We had unemployment pushing 10% and inflation pushing 10%and at one point, the prime interest rate was running in the high teens. President Reagan (with some help from Alan Greenspan) fixed it and his fix ushered in the longest peacetime expansion in US history...which is why y'all can't remember when times were last REALLY bad. We had a little blip like this one in about 1992, and another in about 2000-01, but we haven't had a serious recession in the adult lifetime of anyone under 45-50 years old.

To the extent that Sen. Gramm was trying to say "you don't know what BAD is", he was right. Look at those numbers again: 10% unemployment, 10% inflation, prime rate in the high teens. THAT is bad.

debt slaves and corporate masters

We'll continue our downward spin until Americans realize that it's not okay to have payments on a television.

As far as corporations go, now that the government has eliminated risk from the equation (freddie, fannie, bear, etc.) we're only likely to see more and more greedy, ignorant schemes (i.e. no-doc subprime loans).

There was an almost coherent quote in the Davis homes story that summed it up nicely in this mornings paper...

"I was watching people get homes I wouldn't have loaned lunch money"

LOL indyjimmy. I had that post all written too: $3500 plasma TVs, $2500 stainless-steel refrigerators, $1500 steam-injection front-load washers, and junior-luxury cars priced at one's entry-level annual salary as "necessities" are the big reasons we don't save money in this country.

The culture of conspicuous consumption has trickled down from the upper class to the middle class, and right on down, sadly.

This is an internet forum that discuss development/planning/city issues and I have every right to post my opinion, even if you think it is "whining." Your position is what I think is wrong with this State. Hoosiers are generally pleased with "mediocrity" and they tend to not expect much from their leaders. This was never more apparent than last year when Bosma spent time, money and resources fighting the ICLU over praying in the Statehouse and trying to write hate/discrimination into our Constituion. There are many more important issues facing this State and our leaders need to be help accountable.
Most hoosiers are evangelical Christians whether you like it or not. He was just representing his constituents. If the marriage protection amendment were put on a ballet it would win by a landslide, as would the right to pray in a public space. My position may be what you think is wrong with this state but it's an uphill battle for you in such a conservative place.

I'm happy we aren't banning God here, or else we might burst into flames like California.

Style preferences aside, I'm curious what everyone thinks about a development like this on our canal. I doubt it would ever fly in Indy, but what a centerpiece it'd be!

There you go, Grandpa.

What, is Indy too conservative for something like that to fly here (assuming financing was already available)? That type of project is just what our city needs. A jumpstart for other development, if you will.

Children’s Museum expanding

The world’s largest children’s museum is getting bigger. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis plans to build a $15.7 million expansion with 37,500 square feet of new space including a welcome center, bus driveway and bike port. The project is slated to begin in the next few months and should be done in time for the arrival of a blockbuster King Tut exhibit scheduled to open in June 2009, said Craig Emsweller, the museum’s vice president of operations. A preliminary rendering shows a towering glass entryway with a large dinosaur peeking inside, mirroring the dinosaur statues outside the Dinosphere exhibit. The project will extend a skywalk into the museum, provide a safer entry drive, add new landscaping and relocate a library branch within the museum. Funding will come from a $12.5 million Federal Transportation Administration grant and a 20 percent local match. It would be the largest expansion since 2004 for the 433,500-square-foot museum between Illinois and Meridian streets at 30th Street. A hearing on the project scheduled for today likely will be moved to Aug. 14.

I highly doubt that. Evangelicals are a very loud minority whose goal in life is to impose their religious views on society at large. This stuff about banning god is so over the top it's impossible to take seriously. We try to keep religion out of our public institutions and Christians act like they're being singled out for persecution.
