Do the Cullinan Towers (Union Square Phase 5/6) at 269.9m not count as completed?

I'm surprised that most are quite short. I was expecting a list full of supertalls

Hotel Panorama hasn't opened though. Even now the bottom sections are still cordoned off. Same with the Cullinan and Harbour Place. They're still working on the interiors.

All,

Thanks for all your input - I'm one of the people responsible for putting this list together.
Please note the list has been put together with the following criteria. A project is only considered for the list if it has been completed in 2007. We've considered a completed building as one that is:
a) topped out
b) fully clad
c) at least partially occupied
This is the reason why buildings such as the Minsheng Bank / Cullinan Towers are not on the list.

Like everyone else, i was expecting more supertalls, but it seems to have been a quiet year....i suspect 2008 will have many more...

Thanks again....

Phil

Thanks for the list, anyone know how many skyscrapers were completed in 2007?

According to the SSP database there are a total of 1867 skyscrapers in the world including 38 supertalls, and another 677 U/C including 58 supertalls!

4 Naberezhnaya Tower C, Moscow
59 storeys, 268m./881ft., office, mixed construction (last two, or one - hard to say, levels are fully closed by cladding)

Yes, I agree... because of all the stunning supertalls that are going for completion in 2009: Burj Dubai, Abraj Al Bait Towers, Federation Towers, Guangzhou IFC West, Dubai Towers Doha, Trump Tower Chicago, Princess Tower, Al Hamra Tower, 23 Marina, The Torch, Wenzhou WTC, Waterview Tower, City Hall and City Duma, Eurasia... not to forget ICC, that is even scheduled for 2010.

My point is the following: from outside, the one or even two years before completion are way more interesting in the majority of cases. This is the time, when the final rise of the structure happens up to the topping-out, and the cladding is added. Later, while the interior work is done, the attention decreases a bit.
So the few finished supertalls last year tell me, that there's much more construction happening today, compared to 2006.

So supertalls for 2008 completion we will have:

WFC-Shanghai
One Island East-Hong Kong
BofA-New York
Burj Dubai Lake Hotel-Dubai

what else?

2009 will be the mother of all supertall years.
