That's necessary for visitors especially when you see the imbecility of certain PSG supporters...
That's the only place in this stadium when you'll see fences

How much has this stadium cost to build and how have lille afforded to pay for it?

I think for a poject this big the first tier is too shallow and needs to be steeper for better views

There's an easy solution to this! But none in Europe will favour it! Don't create special section for visiting team fans. In this world; true football fans should be able to meddle in the stadium... and outside too.

There's another solution but it is sligthly more expensive: replace the mesh fence by gorilla glass!

Yeah, the glass is better than the fence. That thing they use at Juventus Arena. It just looks more elegant.

I think for a project this big the first tier is too shallow and needs to be steeper for better views

-Lille club pays 7 millions/year
The city of lille pays 12-14 millions / year
this during 31 years.
A naming will low the total amount.

-The first tiers surpringly will permit a better view for spectators than a steeper one. Just visit virtually the stadium:
http://www.grandstade-lillemetropole...virtuelle.html

And i thank Ironman to show us this another project(NORPAC/BOUYGUES) who lost .i don't find him more impressing than the winner one:

you cannot be serious

The roof avoid to have what you can see at veltins arena or solna-> The shadow of cables in the middle of field during an international match at 17h or surely 15h like it will be the case in 2016 with certainly 3matchs /days because it will be a 24 teams tournament

You just bash free this this stadium which is great.

I wonder how people don't realize that a jewel will birth this summer here

TV pics will be fantastics! i hope you'll watch the first game to realize that you were wrong man!

The 21st century marks the age of light engineering, not Millenium Stadium style heavy ironwork.
For inspiration see Warsaw National stadium - light and bright (lets lots of daylight in when covering the stadium). Not a heavy sunlight blocker.

Unless of course Lille stadium wants to protect people inside from aerial assault, I can then understand the need for such a heavy roof sheltering people from missile attack.

pLease warsaw roof is a danger when you know this can happen in winter:

then we won't have this in lille but in warsaw when you remember velstins ...

Lille is 21 st century stadium.
stop your scepticism.

If the average stadium built today has the quality of Lille i take them now.

Says the engineer named Axel... well...whatever, I guess... ('cause the whole world is aware that Axel from Lille has designed and built this (quite gorgeous BTW) STADIUM (aka "jewelllllll"))

PS: IT IS VELTINS !!!! not VELssssssTINS ! Capiche ?
(parce que sur ce coup, ça fait "juste" deux ans, voire plus, que je me mord les lèvres à chaque fois que tu mets un "S" entre "Vel" & "tins", toi qui pourtant est le plus grand promoteur des naming rights en France..... bref...)

Sorry for veltins

Oh wait! is it the designer in chief better than the eiffage teams who speak?

then what would has been your proposal for the roof?

i don't know why people cannot just accept that this stadium will already next year the best in L1

Perhaps jealousy?

I didn't know that Eiffage was an Architecture firm...

Oh and don't worry, I'm far to be jealous or whatever, 'cause I just like stadiums for what they are, and that's also why I attended so many games all around the world...

Bon, allez, je te fais un câlin quand même mon petit envieux et frustré préféré aka Monsieur Comparaisons...

I don't remember to have read you saying something positive about this stadium

i hope arena 92 will be build to make critics every time a news or pic is posted on the apropriate thread.

I continue to tink that this stadium is LARGELY superior of the level of L1 structure which has the same standard since 1970-> the parc des princes.

It is a good stadium but the european standards are emirates, allianz.

Lille looks at Allianz & emirates , not the parc des princes.

people should realize the best stadium in france for the next season is located in Lille. just accept it.

After it will be Lyon stade des lumières.
