This goes beyond red light cameras. Cops do ticket people for speeding here, but they will sit on the side of the road in the same spot when they are out looking for speeders, and they usually don't hide behind buildings or turn off their lights at night so that you can't see them. Sometimes they are behind blind curves and hills, but not always.

Also, the police will release a small announcement saying where and when they will be having DUI checkpoints. The announcements get printed in the newspaper.

Basically, around here, if you get caught doing something, it is because you are stupid. In a way, it makes sense, because if you are too stupid to pay attention to the hints that you are given, then you deserve the ticket. I know that I have been caught speeding on roads that I know are patrolled, and I can't blame the cops for tricking me; I can really only blame myself.

Will you be flying Southwest or Northwest into DTW?

Will you be staying at the RenCen? Or in a hotel along the Lodge in Southfield? I highly recommend the Westin Southfield... but I won't be staying there much longer when the Westin Book-Cadillac opens its doors.
