BEIRUT | The Ritz Carlton | Pro

The Ritz Carlton Beirut

The Ritz Carlton Beirut is situated on the corniche in Beyrouth. Inspired by translucent drapery, the skin of the building is constructed of undulating perforated metal. The hotel suites and rooms are designed to take maximum advantage of their outdoor access and sea views through both the porous nature of the structure and a number of elements that link the interior and exterior environments in each room. The new hotel will contain 250 rooms as well as 31 apartments that range in size from 190 to 600 sq meters. The complex will also contain retail elements as well as restaurants, a night
club and health spa.

This is a joke Right? Nobody in their right mind would design nor construct a building this ugly! Besides it will just be used for target practice during the next set of skirmishes anyway.

I just saw this terrific building a moment ago, but I think I'm already falling in love with its graceful, yet ambitious forms. I'm sure it will be a good fit in a surrounding architecture as well!

Say what you want about the design (I already have) but at least it's already under construction and funded!

Wow, I really dig it. I wonder if it took inspiration at all from some of the ruins in Beirut?

The design is by Chicago based Perkins+Will architectural company.

For the moment, this is just a proposed structure.

Hmm, don't know about this one. Kinda like it, kinda not like it. I am confused with no certain + or - opinion... But it is definitely very original and interesting...
