HOUSTON | BG Place | 192m | 630ft | 46 fl | Com

MainPlace: Downtown Houston

Site demolition for the tower:

This block was in really bad shape. In order to help that entire side of Main Street, those "historic" (if you could call it that) buildings had to be torn down. There is one building still remaining on the block that was just recently renovated into some office lofts.

Go Houston! This is my favorite tower going up in Houston at the moment. It's gorgeous. I'm so glad to see it's now under construction. I'm so envious.

Awesome modern design for Houston! Glad that Houston's getting more high-rises and infill!

I like how the city of Houston is clearing older buildings from it's original downtown, and filling in with new, taller towers. (something that soon may happen here, in downtown Los Angeles.) I like this new tower, not too flashy, but sleek and narrow.

And with Hines interests involved, i know it will get built, great tower for Houston...!!!

^ But at the same time, they should retain their historic architecture.

Like I said in the first post, that block was a seedy one, and needed some repair. There is a historic building on that block that was restored into office lofts, but has 0 tenants. Now with MainPlace coming in, that whole side of Main Street will be better. The Stowers Building (tower with 0 tenants) will be getting some when a major office tower like MainPlace is on the same block as it is.

I could be another boring tower, but the trees and the "white" cladding add a lot of character to this building.
