I'm sorry but that's vile and hideous.
is this project a joke? This thing makes me want to puke..
blah.
The color for this one is just not right. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I like it or hate it.
Yeah, this just looks messy and weird. Seems like someone is playing a game of Tetris around the outside...
Poor Birmingham
Shoot everyone involved with this, blast the designs into space and lets never talk of this crap again.
I mean its not the Walls i have a problem with...its the little paper explosion at the top, what is all that. Its like a gift bag under your christmas tree.
Horrible. When was the last time being different just for the sake of being different was a good thing?

Why has this project even been posted here? I know the subforum title suggests that it should be here but looking at the other threads, this is out of place.

I don't like the cube myself but it's not that bad. I agree that it does try too hard to be different but that's no reason to hate it. One thing I disagree with is people saying it will become iconic. Don't confuse unique with iconic.

Really? Is it better than the Liver Building? Cunard Building? Port of Liverpool Building? Martins Bank Building? India Buildings? Catholic Cathedral? Anglican Cathedral? If you are talking about modern buildings, I prefer our new waterfront museum.

Anyway, how immature.

He's only young, forgive him!

Yeah, theres some great buildings in Liverpool and I like the look of some stuff you are going to get in future. I do think this is a fantastic design though, and I wonder whether people would be saying bad stuff about it if it was being built in their city!?

Brummyboy, you're wasting your time on this thread my friend - full of mouthy retards and smartarse gobshites who appear to know f*** all about buildings and design; two traits I would have thought were required at their most basic levels in order to be able to contribute to this thread.

Say your goodbyes and let's move on

This was designed by Ken "the pen" Shuttleworth the designer of the gerkin in London. Everyone said that looked shit in renders now it's one of London's most iconic builings.
Oh and he's from Birmingham. Such a talented architect wouldn't design a shit building in his hometown I think this building is class.

oh boy what kind of drugs do people take?!
Someone said it looks like it came out of computer hit by a truck .... well i agree.... then again probably it is tooooo futuristic and toooo agresive - maybe with time this design will overtake (hopefully not)
And i dont agree that this will become icon building for the UK

I agree. It wasn't a mistake to post it here but it you did waste your time really. I think one problem is the lack of up-to-date renders. There are quite a few renders that are actually out of date. It is a very complex building and it isn't trying to be out there, it is just breaking the trend of bland run-of-the-mill apartment blocks going up. It's good to experiment with architecture - especially like this. After all, architecture is symbolic of the era it is from and in this era, we are really experimenting with architecture like we never have done. I have faith in this project but I do accept the possibility that it could fail. There are so many buildings that could fail too. Burj Dubai might end up being loathed by the public in 30 years time! We'll just have to see!
