Belgorod (Russian: Бе́лгород) is a city in western Russia, situated on the Seversky Donets river just 40 km north from the Ukrainian border, at 50°37′N, 36°35′E. It is the administrative center of Belgorod Oblast. Population: 337,030 (2002 Census).

Looks very nice, but so dry... Maybe I'm not used to it.

I'm used to flashing neon lights and glossy buildings everywhere.

well... town's population is only 300 000... u can't expect much from the town of that size...

Belgorod is not Moscow or St. Pete, it's not even major city. I used to live in Ukraine, but very close from Belgorod. It definitely looks better now.

Unfortunatelly this old city was destroyed in WWII -near was worldfamous Tank battle in 1943 -2700 german tanks and 3440 russian tanks ! Germans lost more 1600 tanks and 500 000 soldiers .Russians lost 300 tanks and more 100 000 soldiers
