Well, if they put huge "non-kosher" signs outside restaurants they'll chase away more cutomes than they would gain... so it's not worth it for them.

It's true that there are more non-kosher than kosher restaurants in Tel-Aviv. In fact, I only know two plces that are kosher (besides vegetarian places, that are kosher by default.) I have a religious friend from Jeusalem and when he comes to town it's always a problem to even meet for coffee.

If you don't find meat at breakfast - tht's more cultural than religious. Israelis find the dea of eating mat for breakfast ridiculously and bizzare. Breakfast belongs to diry products, veggies and eggs. Palestinians don't have meat for breakfast either, and since we don't gt many tourists, there nreason for restaurants to go against the current.

As far as te price: it's true that McDonalds is expensive here, but its disproportinally expensive to other food you would get. You can et a Falafel lunch, with a drink for a hird the price of that big mac meal, and for the price you payed at Mcdonald's you can gt a lunch deal at a sit down retaurant. So why eat at McDonalds when the local food is so good, interesting and cheap?

Oh brother, if only you had any idea how cool that religious friend is (and how religious!)He is in charge of two seperate organizations that are involved in preserving the human rights of Palestinians.

Thanks for the welcome back. I'm often here, but it's true I've been silent for a while.

Yeah, but there's no reason for it to be this way. I feel that my political views stem from an idea of morality and a sense of empathy. Both morality and empathy are important in Judaism, so why are most religious Jews right-wing?

Because religion has been mixed with nationalism here (in the so called Jewish-State), and that always causes it damage. Fortunately, there are a few people who know how to seperate their religious ideas from nationalism, and they can be both truly religious and politically open-minded.

Your religious friend is probably seriously hot for you since she said what she did...

I'm a religious leftie too, but there are not many of us - I agree with Zohar. A few years ago I wasn't really a leftist, but now I can say I am. At least, it's the lesser evil out of all political ideologies

I'm definitely no radical. I'm a non-radical religious leftist, who is religious and respects people of other religions and belief systems

Well it's either this or the thread would have been forgotten in the photo thread archives, nothing prevents people from comenting on the photos.

Not in a fake muslim way, of course, some of them hold the same viewpoint on minorities that is held in their home country but not so much because their political opinions are constructs of the french society. Generally, even if it is far from being an absolute rule, religious minorities tend to be on the left politically, and not just in France.

Most muslims come from dominated minorities and as such, their political opinions logically tend towards the left.
