 maybe you never saw the 'outskirts' of London: you would know there are many old town centres with old buildings and churches (I just quote Richmond as exemple). Unlike Milan they created a metro area institution (the Greater London) to better manage the city sprawl, making all these historical centres (sometimes few houses, sometimes bigger towns) merge and 'work' together

Personally i find the oustskirts irreparably ugly and the sprawl, not managed at all, helps to make them even more bleak

Infact, besides being the center of nightlife in Milan, naviglio pavese is a meeting place for couples. His name, Naviglio Pavese, is derived from the name of the citizens of Pavia, an ancient city in the metropolitan area of Milan, just because this canal goes into the city and flows into the river Ticino.
