Hartford | Capital of Connecticut |20.01.08

New Haven thread http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=573113

From Wikipedia: "Sometimes referred to as the "insurance capital of the world," Hartford houses many of the world's insurance company headquarters, and insurance is one of the region's major industries."

It is also a city where Mark Twain lived and worked (wrote).

Entering the city by an impressive highway. Strange building on the left, kind of like a mix between something Islamic and a Russian Church. No idea what that is.

State Capitol building, one of the most impressive ones I have seen.

It combines Neogothic and French Renaissance styles. The building was built in 1878, replacing an older late 1700's State House.

This building looks kind of like the Smithsonian museum in Washington and M.I.T. in Boston

Now we've left downtown and governmental district. This is the area where Mark Twain lived.

His house

The house was closed but I took a peek inside through the window

The view of his house from the inside of the yard, there's also another building next to it.

Next stop Boston

I loved Hartford even though I only stayed there one night; a beautiful little city.

Too bad it's not a mosque, but a landmark of a former Colt factory
