Jan. 23, 2008 Was A Glorious Seattle Day

January 23rd was a glorious day in Seattle. Took a walk, and
another ferry ride.

Started out dt in the financial district. Walked by the new
5th & Madison condo. Some people were moving in already.

Decided to head up to the top of Columbia Center, our tallest.
If you're ever around there you must check out the views. It's
open Mon-Fri from 9-5pm and its only $5.

From there I left Colubmia Center, hopped on a metro bus(free within dt)
on 4th Ave. down to 3rd & Pike. Hopped on a #2 bus and got off on
Queen Ann Hill.

Walked down Highland Drive. One of Seattle's most beautiful streets imo.

Walked back out to Queen Ann Ave. Didn't show you but QAA is a
great street with lots of amenities like restaurants, coffee shops,
a great bookstore, hair salons and boutiques.

Jumped on the #2 down the hill on my way back dt to Pike Place Market.

Met up w/some friends and had lunch at Lowell's at Pike Place.
Tom Hanks filmed a scene here from the Sleepless in Seattle movie.

After lunch I thought hey what about another ferry ride. So we
dashed out of Pike Place heading to the waterfront to catch the
3pm ferry to Bainbridge. Walking to the ferry terminal I took these.

Beautiful day, and great pictures!

Although, it looks a little bit hazy.

The Space Needle is just amazing, it's one of my favorite buildings in the whole world... Therefore Seattle is one of my must-visit cities. Is it true, though, that it rains almost everyday day there? Rain is one thing I really, really dislike
It's like a turn-off lol

We looked at mountains until dawn, and then when dawn came, it was too pretty for me - there was pink and blue and gold, in the sky, and on icy places, brilliant pink and gold flashes, and the snow was colored too, and I said," Oh," and sighed; and each moment was more beautiful than the one before; and I said, " I love you, Momma." Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing!

I write this in all your pic threads, but I wish I was still in Seattle! Beats Iowa, especially right now.

Seattle is my favourite city in the USA Since I moved to Eastern Washington from California 6 months ago, I have visited Seattle 6 times. It's a 5-hour drive one way, but it's totally worth it Will be awesome if Boeing hires me in a year or two.

From October-April, maybe 20% of the time, or rain at some point in 35% of all days. Just a guess. Some winter weeks it'll rain 70% of the time, while others, like this week, are completely dry. In the summer, we're one of the drier cities in the US.

I walk a mile to work, and there are really only about five days a year when I wish I used an umbrella. We do get a lot of light drizzle.

Fewer inches fall here than anywhere east of the Mississippi. It's just that it comes down slowly.

It can seem that way in the winter sometimes. The summers on the other hand are EASILY the BEST summers in the United States. I dare you to find somewhere else in the U.S. that has better summers. We get droughts believe it or not. Sometimes we even have to conserve water. The saying I'll always remember from a couple particularly dry summers (if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down"

You absolutely MUST visit Seattle in July or August. There's so much to do in and around the area during this time, and the weather is nearly guaranteed to be nice. (knock on wood)
