Reliance’s Jhajjar SEZ gets first nod

The government on Monday granted in-principle approval to Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Haryana SEZ Ltd, clearing the first hurdle for a tax-free multi-product special economic zone (SEZ) at Jhajjar near Gurgaon in Haryana, not far from Delhi. Formal approvals will be granted after detailed plans are submitted.

Reliance’s SEZ was trimmed to 5,000 hectares, after a Group of Ministers changed the rules in April last year.

PFC signs Rs 5,180cr deal with Aravali Power for 1500 MW power plant

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) today announced that it had signed the largest-ever loan agreement for Rs 5,180 crore with Aravali Power Company for the execution of the 1,500 Mw coal-based Indira Gandhi super thermal power project at Jhajjar, Haryana.

"This is the largest-ever loan sanctioned by PFC for any power project," a statement issued by PFC said today.

Power generated from the project would be shared between Delhi and Haryana in equal proportions. Aravali Power has acquired the land required for the 3x500 Mw project, which is expected to be completed by October 2010.

Haryana to develop new township near Rohtak

The Haryana government Friday announced that a new township, Sampla, will be developed near Rohtak, about 60 km from the national capital.

The new urban estate will be located between Bahadurgarh and Rohtak towns.

Sampla will be spread over 7,180 hectares and will have three facilities - a cyber city, a medi-city and a biosciences city - in its vicinity. It will cater to a population of nearly 300,000 residents, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here.

The decision to develop a new city was taken at a meeting of the state-level committee of the town and country planning department here Friday under the chief minister.

'Out of 7,180-hectare of land, 1,070 hectares will be for developing the bioscience city, 550 hectares for medi-city and 223 hectares for cyber city. Forty sectors in all would be developed in the new Sampla urban complex,' Hooda said.

'Out of these, 19 sectors will be residential, eight sectors each will be reserved for industrial and institutional purposes and one sector each for commercial, transportation and communication. Open spaces will be kept in an area of three sectors.'

Mar 18: Haryana to setup industrial townships

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said projects have been initiated to set up industrial model townships in Faridabad, Rohak, Jagadhri and Kharkhoda and two more cities would be developed on the pattern of Gurgaon.

Hooda said this while interacting with British High Commissioner to India, Sir Richard Stagg, who called on him here, an official release said.

Mar 21: Haryana horticulture gets Rs 223-crore booster dose

Chandigarh, Mar 21 The Haryana State Horticulture Development Agency has approved the annual action plan of Rs 223 crore for 2008-09 under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM). Out of the total funds allocated, the Centre will contribute about Rs 189.54 crore, whereas the state government’s share will be close to Rs 33.40 crore.

Mar16: Haryana to invest Rs 24316.82 cr in power sector in 11th Plan

BHIWANI: To augment power generation and strengthen its distribution system in the state, the Haryana government has prepared a mega investment proposal of Rs 24,316.82 crore during the 11th five year plan.

Out of this, Rs 10,042.01 crore would be spent on power generation, while Rs 7,697.72 crore is earmarked for transmission and Rs 6,577.09 crore is for strengthening of distribution system in the state, Haryana Minister for Forest, Environment and Sports Kiran Choudhry today said here after inaugurating a 33 KV substation at Pataudi village in Bhiwani district.

Mar 19: CCTVs at all railway stations in Haryana

Panchkula, March 18 Learning a lesson from the Samjhauta Express blast, CCTVs are being installed at all the 22 railway stations of Haryana, said SP, Government Railway Police, Haryana, Bharti Arora.

Addressing a media conference at the Police Line in Moginanda, Panchkula, today, Arora said the process of installation of CCTVs is complete in Ambala, and these will be installed soon in Chandigarh, Panipat, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Sonepat, Kurukshetra and Karnal.

Mar 18: China Light bags Jhajjar power project

Mumbai, Mar 17 China Light and Power (CLP) has outbid Lanco Infratech and Torrent Power by quoting a per tariff of Rs 2.996 for the 1,320 MW coal-based power project at Jhajjar in Haryana. CLP plans to pump in nearly Rs 5,000 crore for the purpose.

CLP sources confirmed the development and told FE, “The project will be developed in two phases. The first phase of 660 MW is expected to be come on steam after 42 months from the signing of the power purchase agreement. By the end of 11th Plan period, the first phase will become operational.

Mar 3: Centre approves two canal projects for Haryana

CHANDIGARH: The Union Ministry of Water Resources has approved two projects namely Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Canal Command Phase-II and Western Jamuna Canal (WJC) Command Phase-VI for Haryana at an estimated cost of Rs. 466 crore under the centrally sponsored Command Area Development and Water Management (CADWM) programme.

While stating this here Monday, the Irrigation Minister, Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav said that the estimated cost of JLN Canal Command Phase II project was Rs. 150 crore out of which Rs. 77 crore was Central Share for covering the area of one lakh hectare for construction of 525 watercourses. Similarly, the estimated cost of WJC Command Phase VI project was Rs. 316 crore which covering two lakh hectares of area for construction of 1542 watercourses.

Capt. Yadav said that the project JLN Canal Command Phase II project covers five districts namely Jhajjar, Rewari, Mohindergarh, Bhiwani and Gurgaon. The project period was nine years and would last upto 2016.

DLF plans integrated township at Panchkula

Delhi-based DLF group, would soon have its presence felt in the fringes of Chandigarh as the company is coming up with their DLF Garden City Project near Panchkula for which the company is eyeing 200 acres. Out of the 200 acres, the company is said to have acquired 34 acres with rest being underway.

Already DLF, one of the leading real estate developer of India, has its presence in Chandigarh as the company has set up an IT Park spread over an area of 12.4 acres with an investment of around Rs 240 crore.

The DLF garden city project that is a residential project in an area of 34 acres and would offer 2, 3 and 4 Bedroom Hall Kitchen (BHK) apartments.

While the 2 BHK would have 1250 sq feet , the 3 BHK area would vary from 1550 sq feet to 2050 sq feet while the 4 BHK would comprise 2250 sq feet to 2550 sq feet.

An official from the DLF, while confirming the news said that DLF has acquired 34 acres of land near Panchkula on the National Highway-22 and the project would be rolled out soon. The said deal has been finalised at a whooping amount of Rs 1.14 crores.

According to officials, the DLF is awaiting licence from the Haryana government, which will come by this month end after which the work for the township would resume.

Apart from the residential apartments the integrated township would have special features like Club House, Schools, which could be in collaboration with Vijay International School and Educom and an hospital to be set up by Fortis or Wockhardt.

So far nanocity would be developed in two phases with a price tag of more than 1billion dollars. Sabeer Bhatia is currently chasing silicon valley companies and other IT firms based in the US.

However funding and developing this project has taken a great amount of time. I doubt that the foundation stone would be laid any time soon.

TDI Hotels inks pact with Fortune Park Hotels to setup hotel at Sonepat

TDI Hotels and Resorts Ltd, a group company of TDI Infrastructure, has informed that the company has signed an operating, marketing and technical services agreement with Fortune Park Hotels Ltd, a subsidiary of ITC Ltd.

The agreement is to setup a 100-room Fortune Select Hotel at Sonepat close to the TDI Kundli township.

The company claims that Sonepat hotel is the first of the many planned in various cities across India. Hotels industry is set to see decent growth in revenues as the number of tourists and business travelers has increased in India. The growth in Aviation sector has also increased the frequency of travel among middle class in India.

The new hotel is expected to be operational in 24 months and will serve the needs of NCR and the fast-growing Kundli-Sonepat belt.

Haryana Govt plans to set up community radio stations for the benefit of farmers

CHANDIGARH: Haryana government plans to set up community radio stations for the benefit of farmers in the state which will disseminate information on issues related to agriculture.

Chief secretary Dharamvir told The Times of India on Sunday that it has been decided to write to universities in the state to explore the possibility of setting up such radio stations across Haryana. Experts of Hisar-based Haryana Agricultural University could play an important role in this regard, he said. The country’s first community radio station for farmers was set up in Dharwad in Karnataka last year.

The Haryana government prefers to set up such radio stations in backward districts like Mewat, he said. Community radio service that caters to the interests of a particular area, broadcasting material popular with the local audience but is overlooked by established broadcasting groups. Normally, such stations cover a range of 5 to 10 km.

Dharamvir further said that an NGO has applied for setting up a community radio station at Punhana (Mewat) block, which has the lowest socio-economic indicators. The government wants to set up the station as a pilot project and later on, such stations could be set up in other blocks of the district through public-private partnership, he said. Government plans to engage NGOs and schools to popularise the concept in the state. Presently, 34 community radio stations are functioning in the country including one at Chandigarh, which has been set up by a private school.

Unity Infraprojects bags road projects worth Rs383 cr from HSRDC
Two contracts have been awarded to the company for widening and upgrading Rai Nahra Bahadurgarh Road (MDR 138) and Rohtak-Kharkhoda Delhi border (SH-18)

Mumbai: Construction company, Unity Infraprojects has bagged an order worth Rs383 crore from Haryana State Roads and Bridges Development Corporation (HSRDC), Chandigarh. With this order, the company’s order book for the month of May has touched Rs605 crore.

A contract worth Rs142.62 crore was awarded to the company for widening and upgrading the Rai Nahra Bahadurgarh Road (MDR 138) and Rohtak-Kharkhoda Delhi border (SH-18), scheduled to be completed within 15 months, he said.

The second contract, worth Rs240.45 crore, was awarded for improvement of Murthai Sonepat-Sampla-Jhajjar-Dadri Road (section of SH-20) and for widening, strengthening, providing drains, widening of bridges and culverts of Gurgaon-Karrukjnagar-Jhajjar road (SH-15 A), he said.
This contract was awarded to a joint venture between Unity Infraprojects and Backbone Enterprises, and the time period for the project to be completed was 18 months, he said.

Haryana gets offers for solar power projects from 20 firms

CHANDIGARH: Reliance Industries, Albina Power, ACME Telepower, Epuron Renewable Energy Power, Emco and RS India Wind Energy have evinced keen interest in setting up of solar power projects in Haryana.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister ChanderMohan, who is also the Minister in-charge of Renewable Energy, said here today that Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) had received as many as 20 proposals from various groups to set up solar energy based power projects in the state.

In all, 73 firms had procured the application forms for these projects, he added.

He informed that these proposals would be evaluated by the Technical Appraisal Committee constituted by the state government and thereafter, HAREDA would ink MoUs with the shortlisted firms for preparation of detailed project reports and their execution, an official release quoted him as saying.

Power from these projects would be purchased by the state power utilities on the tariff approved by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC), he said, adding that for fixation of tariff, HAREDA had already submitted a consultation paper to HERC.

The tariff order, for which public hearing was held on April 2, 2008, is likely to be issued by the HERC soon, he added.

3,000 acres for Japanese Industrial Park likely

HARYANA CHIEF Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the state government would explore the possibility of providing 3,000 acres of land in the NCR to Japan-based Mitsui and Co India Private Limited for setting up a Japanese Industrial Park.
The Chief Minister, presiding over a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by the Mitsui chairman, today said Gurgaon had emerged as the most preferred destination for Japanese companies.

Hooda suggested the industrial park could be set up in Jhajjar district. " railway line from Rohtak to Rewari via Jhajjar has also A been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry and following its con , struction, business and industrial hubs would flourish in Jhajjar and Rewari districts," he said.

The Chief Minister directed Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) MD Rajeev Arora to identify suitable land in the vicinity of the NCR to set up the industrial park. Hooda said that for meeting the power and irrigation demands of Gurgaon, about 5,000 MW of additional power would be added in the power kitty during the next three years. A water channel was also being constructed at a cost of Rs 225 crore for the NCR.

Hooda told the delegation that better connectivity would be made available in the NCR after the construction of KMP Expressway . M.L. Tayal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, said there was a great potential for setting up food processing industries in Haryana.
