Mainly because they are not the only ones who suffer the consequences of it. Its use has shattered many relationships. Drug violence aside, it has also put an untold economic strain on the economy via lost productivity at work and school, rehab costs (both physically and emotional), and so forth. Any economic gains derived from a marijuana market would be at the financial expense of the people who use it most - in large part younger / lower income.

For the record, I'm for the legalization of marijuana as well.

Good. Honestly, I would never be able to live in a state if more closed-minded people like you lived here.

I know I revived the California SOTW thread but I really don't give a shit. LOL

Im new here, so thats why im posting, now.
So dont give me anything like people have been posting for this StateoftheWeek for over a year.

CA is good and all but boy, does it like to toot its own horn.
After all you descriptions yall make the rest of the US seem like shit.
Which isn't true.

Most of yall act like CA is in a league of its own....not true.
In fact the only thing that CA is by itself on a pedestal is population, and maybe entertainment, but NYC isn't that far behind.

On tourism, history, culture, food, geography, diversity, economic power, opportunity, weather, and all other aspects that have been posted to make CA the #1 state for all of the things just mentioned, it has a state to rival it and overcome it. In fact, Texas is probably is the only state to rival it in these aspects. But this isnt about TX, its about CA.

Now CA is great, but it shouldn't be the #1 state, while everybody else is a distant 2nd or 3d. Sorry to pop your bubble CA, but your not in your own league, theirs plenty of other states to rival you in most categories.

And this is not an attack on CA, just a wake up call.

and CA is awesome, just not the only awesome state. Hope to visit it someday, especially after seeing these AMAAZIING pictures.!

Pasadena (pronounced /ˌpæsəˈdiːnə/) is a city south of Houston in Harris County, Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. It is the second largest city in the county, 15th largest in the state and 159th largest in the United States, next to its namesake city, Pasadena, California, the 160th largest. The area was founded in 1893 by John H. Burnett of Galveston. Burnett named the area after Pasadena, California because he thought the vegetation was similar.

i dont find that funny, ive already read that, and i would take that as a compliment to your city, not a joke to ours.

Too bad more people reside in your Texas namesake...
and i already know Pasadena,CA is more popular and better, so i hope to not start an argument, here.

And if that wasn't a joke, just an interesting find, im sorry, i cant tell how you meant it by your post.

I know your new and all. But trust me nobody around here is gonna praise you for being the more mature poster, and most of your points aren't valid. Thats another things about this site, if you dont provide data to prove your points (i.e. Texas can compete with CA in those categories.), nobody is going to take you serious. SOTW threads are meant for people to boost up there own state so don't fight it. BTW, yall isnt a word, but if you must use it, add an apostrophe. YA'LL.

well thanks for the tip, but i'm a "casual typer".

I would provide data to prove my points, but i don't want to turn this into a CAvsTX thread.

Also, it would show that i'm intimidated by CA if i go on the offensive. I know that TX is right behind, if not ahead of CA in many ways, and i don't feel like proving it to ya'll in this thread.

All i want to do is state my opinion, without getting into an argument, which is easy to do around here.

And sorry for not following the SOTW rules, won't happen again.
It's true that some of my posts aren't valid or as well thought out as it could be. And the reason for that is that some people go to great lengths to prove someone wrong. Some people treat this like their own personal lives. And i try really really hard not to let the posts get to me.
