It was a plan. But if there was space, most likely JFK would be the candidate

What about some equestrian? Jan Žižka in Prague.

My pics:

Last year I visited the world’s tallest statue, a huge standing Buddha 120 metres (394 ft) tall. It is located in Ushiku city, some 50 kms to the northeast of Tokyo.
Once you arrive in Ushiku station, you get on bus (500 yen, ouch!) that takes you to the statue in about 25 minutes.

The Buddha is located in a pleasant park in what seems to be a quite popular Sunday ensoku spot for people living in north Kanto. There’s a Japanese-style garden, an area for kids and of course, souvenir shops. Oh, I also saw about 8-10 people from India/Sri Lanka, I can’t tell.

Goooong!

The statue itself is 100 metres tall, plus a 10 m lotus and the base, 120 in total.

It is really massive. Completed in 1992, it was built by a company called Kawada Industries http://www.kawada.co.jp/global/index.html It weights 4,000 tons.

Once inside, first you’re led into a room with optic-fiber lit, colourful buddhas… not exactly what you expect to be honest Then, you walk to the next floor where several construction pictures are in exhibition:

A thumb in scale 1:1

From this level you take the lift to the 5th floor, which actually is about at 85 metres tall.
Unfortunately, there’s no real observatory on the top but several slits; this is the best pic I could through them

Back at the base of the statue, on the 3rd floor there’s a golden room with 3,300 buddhas, quite impressive.

The statue is expected to become bronze-green in several decades time.

From the base observatory:

That was all

It looks similar to the carving on the side of Stone Mountain in Atlanta. At 3 acres it is the largest relief sculpture in the world:

Indianapolis, Monument Circle - The Soldier's and Sailor's Monument, 1902, 284 ft
I had seen this monument on television when the Pacer's played in the NBA finals, but I didn't appreciate the size of it until I saw it in person. It is beautiful and impressive...

Notre-Dame de la Garde, Marseille (France)

(certainly not the biggest nor the most impressive, but it's beautiful and the location is actually great)
