THE TALLEST STATUE IN LATIN AMERICA (47 meters!):
Cristo Redentor has only 38 meters
...And tallest than Liberty Statue too (not the entire monument, only the Statue)

VIRGEN DE LA PAZ, VENEZUELA:

Located in Trujillo City. Venezuelan Andes.

Vimy Ridge ...
... The memorial at Vimy Ridge was commissioned and built by Canadians in remembrance of the famous battle that Canada engaged in with the Germans during WWI. When the Nazi's invaded France in WWII, it is said that Hitler made sure that the memorial was not desecrated and there are photos of him there. It endures through time as a monument to Canadian achievement and sacrifice.

that photo doesn't really show the size of it - apparently its the largest one piece statue in the world.

There's also the reunification statue:

Criminal destruction

Some of my favorites were the colossal Buddhas of Bamiyan (Bamyan) Afghanistan, that were created 1,500 years ago.

However, the Taliban blew them up and destroyed these historic and artistic treasures.

that Vimy memorial is one of the most beautiful Ive ever seen. I love that early modernism period, before form followed function.
