They have started demolition on the buildings on Cleveland St. in dt Redmond. This is the last bit of property that extends from 85th to 162nd. This will make a solid line of 6 story condos along Cleveland to 162nd. The face of Redmond is changing fast. There are now 5 new condos and 1 hotel about this height. I don't know if this new project will consist of 1 or 2 more buildings.

Drove down Cleveland St. yesterday and only 2 walls are left from all those buildings so the demolition is almost complete. The space looks big enough for 1 more complex.

Nintendo has a large distribution facility in North Bend. They have begun a major expansion. They have at least 100 acres there and have been wanting to add 2 more buildings there for a long time but because of a water use issue the city had with the state couldn't expand. The issue has been settled (after a 10 year moratorium on building) so Nintendo is developing its campus. this is the beginning of some major changes for this area. A new hotel has been proposed off exit 31 (the Outlet Mall exit) a 4 story Marriott along with a another hotel planned at the Snoqualmie Casino plus the Salish Lodge will begin its expansion in 2010.

Here is the pictures that I took yesterday in Kirkland. They got great waterfront park and area! There are some new mid rises went up. I don't know when they got built. All looks new to me since I haven't been to Kirkland in really long time. I will show it to you guys anyway.

That building is under demolition right now.

My hometown! The building being demolished was a Bank of America, I didn't know it was coming down. What's going up now? Downtown Kirkland has a pretty active night life scene, but I never really had a good experience going out there. Something about the people. I dunno.

Thanks for the pics Crazy.

EDIT: There's a BofA sign on the fence with a new brick building. It's not just for Bank of America though is it?

No problem! I saw the rendering of new building but I didn't had chance to take a closer look to it. It looks like three stories building to me.

Kirkland is so nice!! All Eastside cities should use it as a model.

I was in Kirkland in early July and was thinking, "Now if only this bank could come down..."

There it is..laying in ruins. Lol. I hope they put a nice building there.

Actually fairly impressive density for an east side suburb. Hows the bus service through town? And has Google opened their offices there yet?

The bus service through downtown is pretty good. I believe 230 and 255 serve the general downtown area, although neither travel along the waterfront on Lake Washington Blvd.

It is seen like good service since I saw a several buses pass by when I was there. Google already opened their new offices there. I think they opened last late spring.

I had wondered what they were building there. Nice development.

Additionally, the Downtown Redmond Trader Joe's will be opening on October 9th!

Kirkland has a lot of fantastic mid-rise condos. I always think certain parts of Seattle should be developed like that.

It's a little too retire-y for me though.

I've had mixed feelings about Kirkland these days. On the one hand its nice to have all those condos downtown, but on the other hand, it's starting to feel like I'm in Sausalito or La Jolla or something like that ($$$).

But I guess the whole eastside is getting like that anyway, so . . . whatever.

Kirkland to annex Juanita, Kingsgate and Finn Hill? It would increase Kirkland's population from 49,000 to 82,000.

I always liked growing up in the unincorporated part of Kirkland because we were allowed to buy and use fireworks on the 4th of July when a few blocks away they were completely banned. Pretty minor in the whole scheme of things though.

Come on down to lawless Seatac, Seattlelife, where they are "totally and completely banned for all time and under all possible circumstances and conditions," and shoot them off day or night, up into megaton range if you've got, whenever and wherever you like.
