Saw this building in real life back in August, and loved its design. I thought it was an art deco building being renovated at the time! Really like the stone facade.

30 PP is kind of like what the Woolworth Building used to be for the Twin Towers, especially since the Barclay Tower blocked the Woolworth building from view

I agree that it's a little bland, but we should talk about this term "value-engineering." It suggests that a great design was diminished by the developers, engineers and contractors rather than the architect. But (aside from the switch to concrete from limestone) this wasn't value-engineered; the blandness has been in the design for years and years, since this was first proposed along with 1-4 WTC.

To put it another way, it's a feature of Stern's design, not a bug.
