I go the other way. Glass towers will be a dime a dozen going forward, and have been for some time. I hope they add even more art deco detail to this prominent building. It will go nicely with the 40 Wall/Trump and 70 Pine/Cities Services towers.

As per NY Yimby, New plan filing showing a height increase to 937ft!

Construction Update: 30 Park Place
http://newyorkyimby.com/

Quote:
New plans have been filed for Silverstein’s 30 Park Place – formerly known as 99 Church Street – and the revised documents call for a slight height increase. The Stern-designed condominium and hotel tower is now slated to rise 937 feet, which is a hair over the original 912′ version. The change in plans also comes with a rise in the number of units, which have increased to from 143 to 161.

A Four Seasons Hotel will occupy the base of the tower, with 149 rooms spanning floors 6 to 22. Residences above will have a variety of configurations, but most floors will have four apartments, with half-duplex units sprinkled into the mix. Whole floor penthouses will occupy floors 64 to 66.
Also I like to add according to the permit the # of stories is now 67 stories vs. 82 while adding more units and height.

30 Park Place Filing:

Lately I had been wondering why I have not seen anything as far as filing with the DOB when Silverstein had said that he plans to break ground this fall since Financing has already been secured.

Glad to hear this news and maybe things will start to pick up now.

3. Equinox Tower, 950ft
4. American International Building, 952ft
5. Bloomberg Tower, 941ft
6. 30 Park Place, 937ft
7. One Madison Avenue, 937ft
8. Two Manhattan West, 935ft
9. 40 Wall Street, 927ft
10. Citigroup Center, 915ft
11. Hudson Yards South Tower, 905ft

I recently had a meeting in the Woolworth Building and a got a good glimpse at the pit which will (hopefully) soon sprout this tower.

Manhattan's (skyscraper) density is one of a kind. Only Hong Kong is in the same league.

30 Park, Woolworth and Barclay will make a great trio.

Well, that part of the building is the least attractive anyways. Can't wait for this empty lot to finally have some activity.

If the design remains, it does look similar to the Four Seasons in Midtown.

This is going to be the most beautiful building since The Empire State Building!

I am sick of glass.

This will certainly be a gem and looking forward for this to start and it is definitely refreshing to see this, 432 and possibly Bob Stern's other project at 45 E 60th street being built that is not glass.

However, I don't know why you would be sick of glass. IMO I would not mind seeing more especially for NYC. I would be interested to see if there is any statistics for buildings in NYC that are glass vs other.

Glass buildings you can see in every city in the world but Art Deco, Chicago School, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Classical skyscrapers - these are the reasons why people are coming to NYC! Believe me!
