This one is very nice, It's a bit different and it goes well with the surrounding buildings.

yeah 99 Church Street represents the "oldish" culture not like the wtc towers nearby.
it is similar to the skyscrapers constructed in 1930's-40's in NY

One day shutdown for Silverstein

The 99 Church St. project that nearly received a standing ovation at a breakfast hosted by developer Larry Silverstein two weeks ago, got a stop work order this month.

The Buildings Department issued 99 Church St. a stop-work order Feb. 6, after citing the building for two violations, said Carly Sullivan, Buildings spokesperson. The building’s stairway had holes, which compromise its fire rating. Also, the debris chute was unenclosed, which means debris could fly out and hit someone.

The stop-work order was lifted the following day, after Silverstein Properties corrected the violations.

The inspection followed a complaint that debris was close to the edge of the roof and in danger of falling, but these conditions were not confirmed in the Buildings Department’s report.

Silverstein is currently demolishing the building at 99 Church St., former headquarters of Moody’s Corp., to build a high-rise tower housing a Four Seasons hotel and high-end condos.

it reminds me of the current toronto trend too. that said, i think both cities deserve better than this postmodern garbage. and what a poor placement for this tower to boot: not only will it block and dominate woolworth, it will clash inharmoniously with the future wtc glass. redesign plz.

It will be a very elegant tower.I'd like to see a render showing the facade facing the street.

Toronto could only hope to have such a distinctive design.

I wouldn't say its exact but its not too far off at all. I actually like 1 St. Thomas and I hope Stern's 99 Church comes out well. I Know it kind of sticks out a bit but it does blend in and judging on 15 CPW I would say confidently that I trust Stern to bring us something up to par or even better. To be fair with 1 Thomas the set backs don't seem to be similar in the least bit while the crowns do in a way. One thing will set them apart and I hope its how well 99 Church soars.
What kind of stone are they using for this anyway?

I do believe they are on target for that groundbreaking in a couple of months. Silverstein means business.

Great news. Looks like there's only a few floors left before the demo phase is completed. It should all be done before we know it.
