Well designed high-rise building in Manhattan, and is pretty much no such modern design, the view from the higher floors of luxury.

Great detailing on the concrete/stone rendering. Makes so much difference...

Even 10 or 12 extra metres would do.

Some deconstructivism, some Art Deco, some traditionalism, NYC at its best.

Yes, but it is just a definition. Changes nothing.

It's the first render for the site at 45 Park Place, just a stone's throw from this.

It'd be interesting if the brass colored panels rendered at the top of the tower are actual bronze or copper, and will patina like the roof of Woolworth or those lanterns on the Park Row building.

Overnight work at Four Seasons gets OK from C.B.1
http://www.downtownexpress.com/2014/...ok-from-c-b-1/

Quote:
BY ANNUM KHAN | Amidst the seemingly never-ending construction in the Downtown area, the Four Seasons hotel and private residences project at 30 Park Place aims to limit its share of noise until the projected project completion date in June 2016.

Eric Reid, Four Seasons construction manager at Tishman Construction, spoke at a Community Board 1’s Financial District meeting last week to specifically address the ways in which more efficient construction methods could be used to reduce noise levels. Methods included only one lane closure, minimized truck loading and less equipment usage, all possible during night construction that runs from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The board’s committee approved the project’s night construction by agreeing to write a letter of acknowledgement to the city Dept. of Buildings, which wanted a show of support from the community board. The Four Seasons night construction is a part of the project’s precast panel erection phase in which approximately six concrete panels will be erected each night.

The 82-story building will have nearly 200 hotel rooms, 157 residences and a community park.

The project has been completed to the 40th floor, according to Dara McQuillan, a spokesman for Silverstein Properties, the developer of the project.

It's looking good! That will be my favorite shot when 30 Park Place is all done with the Woolworth on the background.

If you look at this old photograph of AIG with the spire cut off, you can see a definite resemblance:

The cladding is looking better as it progresses. It will look even better once glass is in.

It looks very good, I think. Don't know why some people seem to think it's going to look bad just because there's no limestone.
