PD: finally a picture where 1wtc looks as ginormous as one of the twins

I know, it's often hard to grasp the scale of 1WTC in pictures and even in person from some angles but it really is a monster. Just imagine when 2 and 3 WTC are there

What is the cladding material on this skyscraper? I heard there was controversy about it.

Iirc it is architectural concrete. from what I remember the controversy was about some people complaining that the cladding isn't stone, but fact is, the concrete used is indistinguishable from stone

The cladding looks great, and hopefully it will weather well and continue to look that way.

But I wonder if the other major Stern buildings going up (220 CPS and 520 Park) will have actual limestone cladding. That probably would cost another $3 million or so over the concrete option used here. Yankee Stadium contains 93,000 square feet of 2-inch thick Indiana limestone, which cost over $1 million during its construction from 2007-2009.

I've also seen a note that the Empire State building contains 207,000 cubic feet of Indiana limestone.

Both Sterns 520 Park and 220 Central Park will be cladded in Indiana Limestone. I'm 100% sure about 520 Park and in a past article mentioning that 220 CPS would be cladded in Indiana limestone.

Asfaic, there was never controversy with 30 Parks because from day 1 on both Silverstein & Sterns website, they had advertised it as limestone & precast concrete.

this side irks me a bit. There are noticeable spaces of flat concrete which draw the eye that seem like windows should be there. Specifically the lower portion of the tower long the edges and near the setback. Hopefully the tower overall will live up to the hype.

I was really worried that this tower would completely ruin the woolworth building, by casting shadows and blocking it from sight, but I'm very pleased in reality! you can still take a photograph of the woolworth tower on its own! (plus I think 30 park place is a beauty)
