I think it's actually extremely cool. It looks like something out of Star Wars. It's just not finished.

Yes. We can assume she thinks hotels in Cuba are pointless as well because Americans generally dont travel there...

Experts say the concrete is bad and the building is not fit to be inhabited. The status of this building is very hard to ascertain. Very little information gets in and out of North Korea.

Trellick Tower and Guy's Hospital Tower in London are both far, far worse, just for starters.

OCAD expansion was a good decision IMO. I think all us Toronto forumers can agree that it makes somthing out of an otherwise feautureless building. A bit goofy.. I'll admit..yes

yes, that's astonishingly ugly. I've walked by it.

I don't mind the hotel given that it's not done. At least it has a graceful shape.

Gimme a break ... OCAD is hugely entertaining which mitigates any perceived ugliness. You need 10cc of humour injected asap (assumes it will work).

i don't think it's ugly. the fact that it's unfinished makes it such a waste of labor, materials and land. i hope they do something about this soon, make it a historical hub or maybe use its "gotham-like" mystery an attraction. if it were in Europe, maybe people won't criticize it too cynically.

"Worst Building in the History of Mankind" is a bit of hyperbole. It isn't that ugly. I've seen far worse in this thread at SSP. This article smacks more of politics than architecture. Its author is just using this building as a way to confirm everything we hate about North Korea.

I actually like this building better unfinished, and I think it looks pretty good...

I read the article a while ago and the first thing I thought was, wow, someone has been listening to the Axis of Evil stuff too much.

Yep.

Personally, I love the Ryugyong Hotel. I've seen far uglier buildings.

Something will certainly happen to this building after North-South reunification on the Korean peninsula. If construction halted because of lack of funds, they should proceed to finish it but instead of using blue glass plating so it will look too generic, they should clad it with gray in order to preserve its gloomy, gotham-like character as sort of a historic relic. However, if its because of faulty engineering, then they would have no choice but to demolish...
