Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia
I visited Ljubljana last September and all I can say is that i was impressed by its architecture and the laidback lifestyle of its inhabitants. Its very well looked after and definitely a must visit! I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed visiting this gorgeous city
![]() Trivia and general info: Ljubljana has a population of just under 300.000 inhabitants and emerged form the Roman settlement of Emona, erected in 15 AD. It is dominated by the Neo Classisist, Baroque and Art Noveau architectural styles owing in part to the earthquakes that devastated the city in 1511 and later in 1895. 1- Lets start off with a pano of the castle ![]() 2- Ceiling of the Sv. Thanks! Excellent photos, really extraordinary. The views from the hill were especially breathtaking.
I love this city soooo much, I can't wait to return one day.

I spent five days in Ljubljana this past September ... I was there for the Ljubljana festival, and there was no shortage of music and live theatre. The weather was great too! I was very pleased with the atmosphere of the city and the tempo of everyday life.

Nice photos,Fern. Just a little point: pics 33 and 41 are not suburbs (well they were suburbs in early 20th century), pic 33 is actually in the centre and pic 41 in Trnovo, which is in south-central part of Ljubljana.

Nice pics Fern, Ljubljana is a very pleasant laid-back city. Where did you stay?
Last time I was there I tried to take a picture of the US embassy (I didn't know what it was, I just thought it was a pretty mansion house). One of the Slovenian soldiers guarding it ran over the road to tell me that I wasn't allowed to take a photo and explained what the building was. I told them I wasn't a terrorist and the soldier laughed and said "ok then, just go round the corner and take the picture where we can't see you"
