Pangilinan confirms purchase of Davao Doctors Hospital
By Nelson C. Bagaforo

MANUEL Pangilinan, chair of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), confirmed that Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), which he also chairs, has already acquired 34 percent ownership of Davao Region's most modern medical facility - Davao Doctors Hospital (DDH).

HERE

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A nurse named "jun" from davao is now undergoing exposure and training in perpetual succour hospital's cebu cancer institute, i think they will pattern DDH's oncology center after the cebu cancer institute. he is on a two week exposure on the set-up, management, as well as the different procedures and protocols of a leading oncology center in visayas and mindanao. DDH will open their new oncology center (under pangilinan) sometime next week.

i just read at the sites of the two hospitals..St.Lukes Medical Center has a 660-bed capacity..

in the contrary, Medical City has 800 bed capacity, 500 hundred in its Nursing Tower 1 and 300 in its Nursing Tower 2..

From that list, the Medical City is currently the biggest private hospital in the country in terms of bed capacity. I'm quite surprised that my hospital is in the Top 4. But I believe it will be bigger bec. it's currently undergoing expansion and renovation.

The soon-to-open St. Luke's BGC is humongous! I won't be surprised if it will be at least in the Top 3 in the future.

in terms of bed capacity and floor area, I don't know but just to give you an idea...

Photos by OBOI

MAKATI MEDICAL CENTER

Old Makati Medical Center

New Makati Medical Center (still undergoing renovation/expansion as of the moment)
The New annex building will house the operating room complex, laboratories and diagnostic centers. The circular and rectangular buildings will be used by solely by the inpatients (except for 2nd and 3rd floor of the rectangular-will still be doc's clinics)

The NEW building in front of the ER (small square building) is the Tropical Disease Foundation of the Makati Med. Center.

The rendering of the New MMC:

I'll be posting updated MMC photos in the future. IMO, The New MMC looks PRETTY... The new St. Luke's BGC is boring white and blue but HUGE!!!

THE MEDICAL CITY

The Medical City is also already currently expanding now. Nursing Tower 2 is under construction.
