Still, how should it affect operation of the train? It, sure, lowers the temperature inside, but doesn't bring train to stop.
And Flirts are operating just fine in Finland and Belarus.

FLIRTs in Finland, Belarus and Estonia have been designed with a cold climate in mind so they have no problems with running at -30C while keeping the interior temperature at a comfortable level.

Siemens wins more Hungarian ETCS work
20 May 2014

HUNGARY: National infrastructure agency NIF has awarded three contracts for installation of ETCS Level 2 to Siemens. They cover two sections of the route between Ferencváros near Budapest and Gyoma in the east of the country, and the route between Ferencváros and Szekesfehervar to the southwest.

Siemens expects to control around 200 track-km in total with its Trainguard 200 ETCS platform, which includes a Radio Block Centre. The total contract value is ‘around €60m’, Siemens says.

In July 2011 Siemens was awarded a contract to supply ETCS Level 2 for the 65 km route from Budapest Kelenföld to Székesfehérvar

Hungary sets out rail investment plans
Friday, September 12, 2014

THE Hungarian government published a new strategy at the end of August setting out detailed proposals for the development of the country's transport infrastructure for the period to 2030, while also outlining longer-term provisions for the period to 2050.

The main objective is to complete the motorway network, but the document also emphasises that existing transport networks must be better maintained to prevent rapid deterioration from excessive use.

The strategy includes a Forints 780bn (€2.5bn) investment in the railway network over the next five years, which is 40% more than planned investment in the road network during this period.

A map showing railway lines for development includes the planned V0 Budapest by-pass line, together with upgrading of the diesel-operated lines on the northern shores of Lake Balaton and the line from Szeged to Békéscsaba and Salonta in Romania.

All of the other lines earmarked for upgrading before 2020 are commuter lines in the Budapest area, parts of Trans-European corridors, or have already been announced, such as the electrification of GySEV's Hegyeshalom – Szombathely – Zalaszentiván line.

The Hungarian government is now in talks with the European Commission (EC) with the aim of drawing up a list of projects suitable for EU funding by the end of October. Hungary is expected to bid for funds from the initial €11.9bn tranche of funding from the EC's Connecting Europe Facility.

MAV-Start IC+ coaches approved
Thursday, September 25, 2014

IRJ at InnoTrans 2014: HUNGARY's national transport authority has approved the trial passenger operation of MAV-Start's two prototype IC+ coaches, which have been designed and built in-house at the national passenger operator's Szolnok workshops.

One of the two pre-series vehicles is on display at the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin this week.

The coaches are intended for international operation, although accessibility standards have changed during the three-year development phase, which means series vehicles will require redesigned stairways if they are to operate in passenger service outside Hungary.

Testing of the air-conditioned, 200 km/h carriages was mostly carried out in Austria and Switzerland and will now continue in Hungary, where the coaches will be used on regular passenger services

More information on the IC+ coaches can be found here: http://mav-start.hu/ajanlatok/utazas...154081bb7b6fd4

What I wonder is where the coaches are expected to be used? Are there concrete plans thus far?
