Bohinj is great, I rented an apartment in Ribcev Laz (the village next to the lake) last time I was in Slovenia and hired a rowing boat to travel to the far side of the lake, very beautiful and there's a great view from the Vogel ski area.

The only thing it's missing is a pretty church on an island but if it had that it would probably be as busy and commercialised as Bled.

Another detail from the most historic part of Ljubljana. The facades of most buildings are baroque (Italian baroque mixed with Austrian influences). Although Ljubljana was part of the Habsburg Empire for centuries, the architecture was influenced greatly by Italian baroque artists and designers, like Francesco Robba for example in the 17th and 18th centuries. This is the biggest difference between Ljubljana and Maribor (but also Graz and Zagreb to a certain extent): Ljubljana has more Italian influence, while Maribor more Austrian in terms of baroque and classicist architecture.

Triglav, the highest Slovenian peak and also the highest peak in the Julian Alps (2,864 m). It is one of the symbols of the country (can be found on the coat of arms) and it is said that every true Slovenian has to climb it at least once in his/her lifetime.

This is a canyon of Kolpa river, which is also a border between Slovenia and Croatia, now a Schengen border. It's a pretty wild area, covered with virgin forests, where animals such as the brown bear, wolf and lynx are not rare at all.

You've been seeing only very pretty sights until now, but we all know this is far from reality in any country. Next photo depicts all the possible ugliness of commieblocks. It was taken in Hrastnik, a former miner (industrial) town in Zasavje region (Sava river valley). This region is to this day very working-class in mentality and attitude.

OK, so I missed a few days and I'm going to post more photos today

. Next are some photos of Ptuj (German: Pettau), probably the oldest town in Slovenia. It was already an important town in Roman province Pannonia (Latin name: Poetovio). Situated on the wide Drava river, it is one of the finest medieval pearls in Slovenia.

Now one of the most popular tourist sites in Slovenia, Kranjska gora. Situated in the valley in Julian Alps it is THE winter resort for home tourists.

A sunflower field in Drava-Ptuj plain, not far from Ptuj and Maribor. It is one of the most fertile regions in Slovenia, where agriculture is still very important.

And now two photos from the beautiful Mura river in Pannonian (nort-eastern) part of Slovenia. Mura is very well known for its old river mills who give a romantic and melancholic image of this region. They have even become a tourist attraction. However, a vast majority of these mills is not in use anymore.

Žužemberk, a small town in Suha Krajina (Dolenjska region). Dolenjska is known for its rolling hills, forests, orchards, vineyards, small villages and churches on hilltops. The photo was taken right after the storm:
